Itoje off the bench will give them some spark in the second half.

Interesting article in the Oz I️ think with Glen Ella saying if we play 2K’s, that will be exactly what Eddie wants - big bosh up the middle play that they can defend more directly

Underhill is a Menace. The lad is a quality long term 7 option + no lack of spark on the English bench. Gee whiz, interesting Eddie. Huge game needed from Front Row + Kerevi, expecting Foley & Beale to field a huge number of contestable kicks. England to apply the Northern hemisphere kick pressure, defensive game.
I think it maybe wanting another unit who can get over the gain line rather than a third playmaker and less penetration

I think it may have been game 1 or 2 against England at home last year - whatever game we first trialed Kerevi and Kuridrani in the centres, but IIRC, we blew England off the field as far as pace goes and then ran out of steam. Need to re-watch those first few minutes. Hopefully more of the same but for the whole game on Saturday.

It was the first game but it was more that they started with 10. Farrell 12. Burrell. Burrell was useless and got hooked for Ford after we had scored twice. The new combo of 10. Ford 12. Farrell was literally a game changer.

Again Cheika sees something, maybe in training, maybe longer term goals, who knows - but it’s not what I’m seeing. As usual I expect what he sees to be real, though the limitations generally come out too.
Our locks v the POMs (with Coleman injured) is an easy point victory to England
Hanigan and McMahon don’t give a player advantage in the back row. Especially once Itoje comes on.
Bernard and Kerevi in the 10-12 channel places limitations on a 15 second playmaker - a traditional English game will naturally attack this. Hodge might ease this but it’s a big call.
Let’s hope our lack of scrum coach is not terminal, remember the recent Wales-England training.
Cheika has tidied up the line out in terms of selections - 3 1/2 jumpers is as good as it gets for the WBs.
We didn’t see the ball going much further than the centres - with last week’s double big hopper set up, but I expect a week’s training and the last run will help there.
Also a week to tidy up around the D attitude, expect it to improve.
Discipline? Who knows.
Anyway, there us always been a method in the madness, this teamhas pretty much gelled, I felt last week doing the 3-2-1 that perhaps the whole was better than the sum of the individuals. And that may be all it takes.

Coleman is starting. I genuinely think discipline will decide this match. Not just around the breakdown but also in possession. We will inevitably find it hard to break down the worlds best defence. If we remain calm and in control in our own possession we should be fine but if we start pushing things England will pounce.
I'd definitely prefer Coleman with a sore thumb and Simmons to Launchbury and Lawes. I think that is a potential strength for us. Itoje is an outstanding player on the bench and is world class. I do feel like his impact is somewhat stifled at lock rather than 6 though because he has to play that tighter game. Certainly a big test for Matt Philip to come on and provide impact seeing as Itoje certainly will for the English.

That’s interesting, hadn’t expected to see that reaction. OK I’ll wait for the game before awarding a “points victory” in the locks.
Have to agree about Itoje being world class and better at 6. In time it’s what I’m hoping from someone like Dempsey or maybe Tui.
A certain Alan Jones was suggesting this morning that sooner or later there is dissent in a team run by Eddie Jones. Not sure he’s right about signs being there at the moment.
I’m actually hopeful for this which is our 4th biggest (following Bledisloe) game of the year. England will want it very much as a defacto point when they are not playing the All Blacks
England definitely deserve to be favourites and it will be a substantial upset if we win, but gee I reckon $3 for Australia to win is pretty good value. I feel like we're a much better chance than last year.
