I agree completely. Reds will come last. Rebels a sure to win with a new coaching team and a mix of two cultures. What could go wrong?

It will certainly test the abilities of Wessels to merge the two cultures. I'm thinking the rump Rebels will have to have a fair bit of game time or there could well be a split.

Sure Its hard to argue with Real Madrid topping the conference.. Salary Cap and squad sizes seem to have a correlation too potential success

Sully, you pose that question as if you think it will implode, but if Wessels is true to form, the old Rebels will take him on with gusto (since by all accounts TT had smashed their self confidence and so on ) and join forces with the new rebels players and both will galvanise and form a terrific team (IMO)

I think that most of the boys would be mature enough to understand and potentially embrace the fact that it's going to be much much harder to get a starting place in this year's lineup.

I think cracks would only emerge (and from what I've heard about Wessells it doesn't seem likely) where obvious favouritism was taking place.

I don' t think Wessels is a favourtism kind of guy - I think he is pragmatic enough to play the best man on the day and that will be incentive for all players to be the best they can be

It will be a massive challenge to get cohesion at Real, last season it was all us vs them, this season it is a different problem. It could end up as two camps not talking to eachother. The ponies are the most settled team and have an upgraded 10. I think they are odds on favourites again. The Tahs and Reds are still too high in squad turnover to be consistent - both could go on a good run, but I have my doubts

One of the few advantages of the very staggered entry of players into the system. I think it would have been very hard to do so as it is. The Sauce Bros, Horwitz, Adams and I think Daley all turned up before the Exhibition match in Japan, then now Hardwick, Ainsley, Ruru, Rangi and Talakai. Now we'll have Coleman, Philip, Faulkner, Meakes and Genia joining with the rest of the Wallabies. Lance will likely return at the same time as Chibba in the new year, then finally Parling coming in with Mafi at the close of their Season.



I think it would be somewhat difficult to have not already formed connections outside your own established circle.

can i say that as an outsider looking at training a couple of times, the group seem very coherent, switched on and working hard and efficiently. Watching RHP, Cottrell, Leota and Fa'ainga all working together on breakdown skills after official training finished. the only discordant note as i mentioned earlier was Stirzaker, not that involved or seemingly interested in the one part of a session i saw him at. i think that if they have on field success they will meld as a group very quickly.

Fatrpop, they do have a new narrative, everyone else in Oz rugby now hates the Rebels because they survived and cannibilised the Force, still very much an us and them mindset.

No one hates the Rebels though. Sure we all want to see the heads of all the ARU board members on a spike. But the Rebels? best of luck.

Agree Fatprop, Tah's are a bit special now.

I literally haven't even been to Adelaide. Would love to though. I guess there might be a bit of bitterness from the Force fans. But from the rest of us? nothing.

I mean, i guess the prevailing opinion was that the Rebels oughta be cut. I don't think that's carried into anything lasting though.

I seriously hope Wessels can take a huge squad and turn them into real competitors. The Reds and Waratahs are certainly not going to be pushing for a finals place next year.
Edit: Obviously i speak for everybody on the east coast.
