Korczyk is playing a different kind of 7 than we are used to in Aus. More of a second 6. I don't think it is just because he is not as mobile as, say Hooper. It looks coached/intentional. More backbone in the pack.

One of the ramifications is that I dont think he positions himself well on the line. Our centres had to defend a slot without a forward to beef them up.

OTOH we are playing tight and tough.

Another note is that 10 is very deep. Space is being created by the pigs. It would be interesting to see this against, say the Chiefs.

Not watching this live, will watch the replay tonight.

But it sounds as though the Reds are getting the basics right. Starting at the beginning and building good foundations is always a good approach when building a team of any kind, sporting or otherwise.

Yep nothing flash, very basic game plan based around power players and strong defence, but effective so far.

Strange how the Reds look like a group of kids all the way through the pre-game. And how that aura completely dissipates at kick off. Like completely gone.

Right now they look like freaking giants.

Wow not sure if halftime was the right time to switch out Lance for Stewart. Dont get me wrong, I'm keen to see the young fella get some game time but jeez, pressure is on him now.

That was such a good try, holy shit. Off the back of a sacked maul and a scrum penalty five out from their own line.

There you go, Timu hard and straight and straight through, nice hands by the rest, try-time! Well done.

Holy Shit that was good. Steal a line out, smash a scrum, pull a great first phase set play and then draw and pass to put your winger in.

Simon.

Tupou's worth as a runner off the lineout is shown there - both defenders went for his feint and allowed Timu all the space in the world.

Yeah first 3 lineouts they used Tupou, next time they use Timu and there’s a mile of space
