Certainly from what I have seen in the NRL the two referee setup you suggest seems to lead to much faster decisions by the TMO (who also seem to make decisions more decisively than in Rugby). It would be good if we tried out some of your suggestions at Super level. When was the last time Super rugby tried experimenting with an officiating or rule change that wasn't IRB endorsed? A lot of the recent changes to issues like policing the breakdown (like the tackler having to go through the gate as well) all seem to be introduced in the Northern Hemisphere first.

One of the problems is the pace of Super Rugby, its much faster then the norther hemisphere club competitions although they have improved, they are still play a more traditional forwards orientated game. I think for the referees up there this makes for easier officiating, some of the super rugby on display this year has been halter skelter and the refs just struggle to keep up, its not their fault, they are trying to watch 30 players all move at top speed.

I agree its a complicated ask, perhaps theres cause for a 2nd on-field referee like in the NRL.

That would be hilarious if they stood on opposite sides of the scrum.
Reckon there’d be a pretty good chance both would blow their whistle at the same time with their arms pointing in opposite directions. :)

Maybe the guy that doesn't understand scrums could police the offside line, while the other guy who is the better scum ref monitors the packs.

So i reckon Rebels have the three best wingers in the competition.

Snowden looks great, Mitch Short looked injured, or probably just told to be patient rather than be a gunslinger.

Short has a problem plaguing many young halfbacks who grew up watching Gregan: this half-step bullshit that does nothing but give the opposition an extra couple of metres.

Snowden going from the base helped us close that game out.
