Looks like 2 distinct sections in the Dewar Shield - first cross over game this week of Unicorns v Uni of the 4 teams undefeated. What has happened to the Rams this season and what will Quins do to them this weekend?
Valetini didn't play in the GF due to injury, didn't play in any of the Finals - so I am guessing that will be keeping him out - surprised he was listed in Axemen for that very reason.
Not sure what Moorabbin have in P2 but I watched Melbourne trounce Quins last week and they looked a very good team with a number of guys that have played a fair bit of 1st Grade over their careers so I reckon they will be very hard to beat. And that is not even counting if their P1 doesn't make...
Definitely the best burger in the competition at BOX HILL these days. Footscray was the best but they stopped doing the huge gourmet ones about 2 years ago - a real shame and one of the reasons I didn't venture west this year.
Hats off to the Rams and Pirates for having the Pluto Pups - are the...
I reckon it is soft, convenient that the match they forfeit is an away game against teams who would beat them. They got 3 teams out last week for a home game against EH no problems - are you trying to tell me they got 15+ injuries last week. They going to send Box Hill some $$ for the loss in...
Box Hill bloke just told me that Power House just forfeited to them in 2nds and 3rds. No matter what the issues are a club that is as big and as proud as Power House should be able to get 3 teams on the paddock. We have seen many clubs over the years have guys double up to make sure they meet...
I agree - across all three grades and Colts the competition is the tight. Top 4 in 2nd Grade are pulling away a bit - but few blowout scores across all Grades (excl Souths). There doesn't seem to be as much of players backing for 2 games in a day either. Looks like End Hills have placed 3rd...
Usually there is a compulsory holiday period that comes under the RUPA agreement with the ARU - so they aren't permitted to play for some part of the period.
Box Hill are the team on the move - started the year with 3 losses, and 2 of them very close losses to Quins and Unicorns, they have now won 5 straight and in most part won them all very comfortably. Watch out for the Broncos.
Very sad re Souths state - it was only in 2010 they were playing...
I found this comment about Quins interesting so I thought I would do some digging - I don't have any strong affiliation to any one club but go to a number of Quins games just for the style of rugby they play. I rang Brock Parker their rugby supremo and simply asked him the origin of the 21...
Why you having a go at House - from what I can see Melbourne has 2 less Senior teams this year? Last year the Unicorns had P4 and 2 teams in B Grade - this year you just have the one team in 3rd Division? It looks like a number of clubs are struggling with numbers compared to previous years - is...
I would take any results over a Long Weekend with a grain of salt with all clubs probably missing large numbers. Though looking like good signs for Uni - but over the last decade they have always tended to start the season well before dropping away apart from the 2015 Grand Final appearance.
Think your wrong on Quins Colts, at the Colts meeting they stated Colts looking more of a struggle for them this year, they will only have one team and numbers not that strong.
Re 4ths, the VRU said the competition was never going ahead after only 3 teams finished it last season and is was...
