I don't think people will complain about Eastwood because they don't have the monumental advantages university have over other teams. They don't have a stockpile of super 15 players, they don't have 3 or 4 full time coaches, they don't have gym or recovery facilities, they don't have strength...
Does anybody know how the finals system is worked out? Hard to work out how the number 1 team eastwood plays on Sunday (and if they win) have to deal with a 6day turnaround while a lower ranked team (uni or souths) get a 7day turnaround.
Also agree that finals games should be played at concord...
I actually think that golfers and tennis players are precious how they get silence before their swing/serve- the poor goal kicker doesn't get that. A bit of sledging from the crowd is part of the game. It would be a pretty quite game without it
I can't believe we are talking so much about a bit of sledging from the hill. What do you think is going to happen to Sturat Broad during the home ashes series?? Are people going to take offence to him getting abused all across Australia?? Of course not, he is going to cope abuse but that goes...
Great game yesterday, fantastic advertisement for the Shute shield. I'm with the majority of others, thought manly deserved to win but the students know how to win
I don't want to be petty but stannard and hilgendorf were not contracted for 2013. Hilgendorf off memory was dragged into both tahs and Melbourne when injury hit but not sure he made it on field for either.
Not sure I agree, on paper Southern have 6 currently contracted Super players including 3 wallabies as mentioned below. The woods have 2- Robinson and I think maccaffery (I think at force?). Woods definetly have weakest of top 4 teams but I'm looking forward to seeing how things pan out.
Looking...
Great win against Souths for the woods from all accounts. Not bad against a side with 5 or 6 Super players while the woods have 1. If anyone was there I would love a report.
I actually think Sydney Uni being so dominate is actually hurting NSW rugby as well. Uni players have dominated the nsw squad for past 5-10 years and look at the result- a few runners up medals from Australian rugbys greatest nursery.
I have a theory- Sydney uni 1st grade players are always...
It's funny how in a semi professional/amateur competition a team can have a full team of professional players. In order to beat Uni you are going to need your plumbers, teaches, bankers etc which probably make up half your team to beat a team that plays rugby for a living- a real tough assignment.
