Lindommer….have posted some info on the Henley Royal Regatta beginning tomorrow on the 2023 Rowing thread. All schools rowing info/articles to go here. Yes, that includes girls' rowing.
Could be Kings HOR for ‘24
Shore have 0 returning rowers from last years 1st VIII and not many from the other GPS crews, while Kings and Riverview had a much better Yr 10 1st VIII - have heard that they are rejigging their program from next season which was already in place midway through this year with training apparently going to be a different, I think podium is a more realistic aim for them next year rather than winning outright but I still fancy them to come 3rdGoing to be an interesting year especially in regards to Shore given their abysmal 6th at last year's HOTR. Favourites must be Kings and View for 24 though
An interesting question as to whether COVID has put Shore into the place that they are given the dominance of their program beforehand or just strategic errors? It's a bit odd when you see the fall that they have taken given their dominance of the 1st VIII event from c. 2010-2019Kings in a strong position as 5 rowers from 1st VIII returning next season, and a strong cohort from the seconds and year 10s. Will be mainly a year 12 only crew next season. This age group has dominated since pre covid. View will be main competition.
Agree. It seems for now they will have to build from the bottom up.All school have their periods of dominance across different sports. Shore's day will return, is just a case of focus and intent top down and things happen. But they don't happen quickly in rowing. The numbers View have at the moment will see them dominating for the rest of the decade.
Sigh, enjoy your ban muppet.Interesting insight out of the Kings shed - 7/9 of the 2023 championship 1st Jnr 8 have tried to quit rowing, (the cox is one of the two staying). Though the year 11s already in the senior shed are no doubt well poised for the year to come, this probably hurts HOTR chances for 24 and and the next few years.
? I spoke to the cox just yesterday and multiple students yesterday at the 'Back to Kings Day'. Regardless of being put back into the crew unwillingly, my point still stands.Sigh, enjoy your ban muppet.
All rowers returning from this crew
Really struggle to understand the motivations of some of these posts.
