ARU should have a look at Karmichael Hunt?

The stint in AFL will have given him some serious beans in his kicking game and an aerobic motor beyond what's normally needed in the rugbies.

Provided he's able to bulk up a little and manage the switch back (ever tried watching rugby and AFL at the same time? Total headfuck) he should be given the opportunity.

Seriously doubt Hunt will sign with the Reds. Unfortunately they'll sign JOC (James O'Connor) instead me thinks

Just think of the media and ticket sales boost alone at the reds..not that they're bad by any stretch

Not right now, but a poor end to this season will damage that number.

KHunt could be a small shot in the arm that Reds HQ need to help get things back on track sales wise for 2015 and beyond if he's available

Worth a look if it doesn't break the bank. I think the days of just opening the wallet up to league AFL players are gone, but if he can be acquired at the right price then why not. He's already played rugby in France so we know he can do a bit already. I'd have him in the centres or at fullback.

Just had to fix that for you, for the sheer ludicrousness (if thats even a word) of it all.

If the AFL wants to keep poaching the best NRL talent, I encourage them to it. It seems when the player comes out the back end of it all we have a reasonable shot at picking them up.

Should look at some sort of Guerrilla tactics. Kick off a "North Sydney Bears". Should pick up a fair few disgruntled ex-NRL fans who don't realise what they're following.

They've still got about 5 years to run on their GWS / Suns plan.

Yes, but now those teams are getting much better thanks to all their priority draft picks coming of age.

Karmichael Hunt hasn't so much gone backwards at the Suns in his own football as much as the young guns are maturing and showing the talent everyone knew they had from junior ranks.

The Giants are still struggling but they're a year or so behind the Suns (one year in the league and not having a Gary Abblett).

They no longer need gimicks to garner interest.

I think KH would be a much better option than JOC (James O'Connor) for the Reds. He was a league player I always had a lot of respect for and if he stayed in the 13 man game I think he would have become one of their greatest locks of all time, where I felt he was destined to play.

I watched him play in France and they used him as a 13, 12 and even at 10. He did a good job in all of those positions. I'd like him at 13 but think 12 may be his best spot.

Fuck he must be good to think he could become one of their great locks of all time. He was playing fullback every time I watched him!

Played like a 13 before leaving the Broncos. He hit the ball up hard, was one of the best defenders and could pass to men in space.

Yeah, I agree totally.
He loved contact, and moving superstar backs into the forwards is a natural progression in Mungo,as they age.

Are we to assume if he does sign / has already it would only be done / announced after the Suns season?

I'd imagine it will probably drag out for a bit, next season is still quite some time away for all codes, no need to rush into it..

I wouldn't be surprised if he did another sabbatical type deal in France or Japan between contracts like he did last time.

Gee you lack common sense. Listen to a person who clearly knows more than you, and by that I mean Jets.

Hunt would have become a lock as he got older, it is where he played much of his junior league. He was only put at fullback because of his age, and he ended up making a reasonable fist of it.

Karmichael was destined for the halves in fact. Was transitioning there before he left. I was being a smart ass to Jets.

Doubt he would have been a lock ever though. Doesn't have the size or the build. Locks are all second rowers these days.

Qwerty there is a clear difference. It's which lane you run and tackle in! Right wing is a specialist position!

Some decent footage of his rugby gameplay at Biarritz here (skip to 1:50):

Looks promising though I was surprised to see that it was uploaded 4 years ago! It's hard to judge what he would be like now from those few clips.

Yep, Karmichael was definitely on track for the halves, i believe he was been groomed as Darren Lockyer's replacement at five eight for when he retired. Its half the reason the Broncos fell into a heap for a few years there, the succession planning they had in place fell to shit.

I still think his skill set is best suited to inside centre but he will be fairly rusty after a few years in aussie rules.
