Perhaps in the last 12 months or so but still an unfair call in my opinion. He held our attack together when we had nothing better for a few years there and even helped out with the bat. He won't get a look in again but we shouldn't criticise his contributions to the team as a whole.

I'm not having a go at mitch, more the selectors. You can't be a test bowler and not be able to bowl consistent lines... A long time ago he should have been dropped until he sorted his direction out. For me he is the quade cooper of Aus Cricket, has been able to freakish things and occasionally has a game or series where you think 'holy shit this guy is phenomenal'. Then you start to see the flaws in their games and it becomes more and more obvious until they eventually get replaced by someone younger and more talented (I know quade was injured but he was heading that way...) A long time ago they both should have been dropped to work on the glaring gaps in their game and they would have come back much better, lets hope they both still can.

My hope is we keep some of the younger bowlers away from the 20/20 game. I am still worried that prolonged exposure to the short game damages their allround bowling skills.
Maybe Mitchell Johnson should come back as a short game specialist

I wouldn't rule out Johnson coming back in, especially given the trend towards planned rotation of quick bowlers. Hilfenhaus has been great this season on his return after being dismal last summer. Better fitness and (seemingly) better coaching has had a huge effect. The same might happen for Johnson, who is a confidence player at the best of times. He has to re-earn his strips though, and won't really get a chance to do that until next summer now barring a major run of injuries.

Dohni has now been suspended for the Adelaide game for slow over rates. A huge call from the ICC in the context of this series and the BCCI's ongoing dominance of the games finances. Can this tour get any worse for the Indians?

2008/9 Mitch Johnson was fucking fantastic, I would have him back in a heartbeat. But things change, and Mitch gradually slipped further and further, so as a result 2011 Mitch Johnson was a shadow of the one we used to know.

If he can recover his earlier form (swinging the ball both ways, keeping consistent lines and building pressure) then the selectors should consider picking him. But I seriously doubt that will happen, the guy is a head case.

Poms been beating the Australian side with a weaker side on occasions. The Ashes nothing is guarantee strong or weak side all in the end comes to guts and pride and digging in
