Thanks for the `youthful' compliment- no My son left in 2008. Still take a keen interest though.

Obviously early days but with CAS starting Saturday week, last chance for various coaches to do any tinkering.

I would go with:

Stannies
Knox
View
Trinity
Cranbrook

However much of this based on what I saw last year.

Is this all the opens teams, or only the 1st XV?

Refs Appointments lists both 1st & 2nd XVs.
In Knox's case they are playing all teams against a comination of Oakhill and Redfield College.
I would imagine it is similar at the other Schools.

Do you know if they will they post team lists?

Not normally done on School websites.
If you attend the game there are normally programmes available listing 1st,2nd XVs & perhaps 16As.

a year since CAS introduced the two round competition... any thoughts on its success/ failure?

Didn't see enough last year to really judge- was away overseas for couple of months.
The competitive CAS Schools would miss the various `trials' they used to play with GPS Schools. In 2008 Knox played Kings,Shore,Riverview,Joeys & Newington. This year they have played Shore and I don't kinow of any others organized.

Knox 12 Oakhill 13 ( & deserved the win)

Knox looked very impresssive for firstt 15 minutes but they did not maintain pressure & oakhill started to sweat on their mistakes.
Knox backs were pretty pedestrian and their No 8 spends 50% of time standing out in backiline. Forward pack were reasonable but linesouts ordinary- they have a lot of work to do.
Perhaps I'm being a little harsh - Knox led the whole game until the last minute- when Oakhill kicked winning penalty.

Who were the standouts Chosen?
Sounds like a very interesting result.. this comp has been blown wide open

Other results where CAS teams were involved:

Riverview 22 Waverley 21
Barker 45 Stannies 0
Grammar 12 Cranbrook 10
Trinity 33 Pats 5
Aoys 22 St Pius 12

I gather Barker has had a pretty good pre-season. Would appear a solid result from Waverley as well.
CAS comp-proper starts next Saturday.
