Are you sure Stiles wanted the head coach position just yet? He pulled his name from the Waratahs application to re-sign as an assistant coach at the Reds.

Wasn't that 2010 when the wallabies arguably had their most promising attack under Dean's? Or did he commence in 2011?

Just before the system changed totally for the risk free version we saw at the RWC, which he was there for also. But from my recollection that was about his win:loss as an assistant .

Tough job being a coach, youd never tell your bank manager your real profession. eddie Jones & Brad Thorn combo with some specialists for the Reds... White worked well giving a new program for the brumbies a few years ago, his assist coach Larkham is doing a good job now...

White was a name that to me too. Not in the coaching, just don't think Reds fans could cope with the Jake style. But he could be just what we need in setting up S&C HPU, coaching systems etc. could do worse.

he's not available I don't think but aren't there others like this? Hell what about a Leaguer?

Graham was hired as Wallabies "skills coach" in March of 2009 and left for the Western Force in September 2010.

We scored an average of 28 points per match between June 2010 and November 2010 - excluding the Fiji match. Our overall record was 9-5 for the year (again, excluding Fiji).

Wins: England (Perth), Ireland (Brisbane), South Africa (Brisbane), South Africa (Bloemfontein), New Zealand (Sydney), New Zealand (Hong Kong), Wales (Cardiff), Italy (Florence), France (Paris).

Losses: England (Sydney), New Zealand (Melbourne), New Zealand (Christchurch), South Africa (Pretoria), England (Twickenham).

He has to go.

Simple.

If Dame Edna Everidge is not available, then give the gig to a Adrian Thompson & Michael O'Connor team.

Why is Michael O'Conner even considered an option? What is his 15s coaching experience?

These notions that "nobody could be worse than the current guy" and reacting as such is how teams with shithouse coaches end up with an even worse one.

Let's learn from the mistakes. A coach with a track record in professional, senior, 15s rugby.

Michael Foley is due for a change?

Great idea @I like to watch. There is a well worn path from the Force to the Reds and it would be an ideal career move for a coach with 111 Caps for the Reds.

Nic Stiles is an obvious longer term candidate, the NRC will go a long way to developing future head coaches and testing them at a credible level.

We hear that Todd Blackadder may have his contract cut short.

Would he be the sort of guy who could re-build S&C, HPU, and improve structure and strategy?

we have a decent S&C and forwards coach.

We need attack/skills/backs coach.

Plus I would argue part-time kicking and mental skills coaches.

In the case of the former if we can get our place kicking consistently into the high 70s/low 80s% the difference to, best case, wins, worse case BPs, can be enormous come round 18. And our kicking from hand needs to go from more or less ordinary to excellent, that can also make a vast different to game outcomes.

Reg, I'm not trying to simply be disagreeable, but I'm genuinely surprised. I have felt that S&C was a major issue this year. Thought I had seen reports here that the S&C team effectively left at half season. Presumably I have missed something?

In terms of Stiles, I just love what he has done with the set piece. But I'm not chuffed with what is going on in defensive stategy and at the break down generally. Forward attack has been described as "pick and flop", another area where it seems to me we have been lacking organisation.

There is obviously more going on that just Stiles, and he's definitely a "keeper" and probably a longer term possibility for HC.

But I'd like to see more from the forwards.

They have signed the S & C coach from the Brumbies for 2016. Prior to that he was at the Reds circa 2011.

We have Damian Marsh back now in the S&C role. He was the guy that previously had up there as the fittest mob in the comp in 2011.

EDIT> TWAS beat me to it.
