The problem with confiscating these cruise ships is that they'll be worthless after we ban them from enetring our ports ever again.
Me. We're flat out.
A lot of commentators, who would normally be supportive of helping foreign nationals, have been bashing the government for not going into full lockdown for the past 3 weeks so it is hard for them to turn around and advocate for the staff to be brought onshore and risk community infection. The result is Morrison has basically no political pressure to help them at all.
I tend to agree we should help - once the ship owners agree to pay the bills
I agree, should get everyone to come to the party quickly. The longer you delay assisting the more likely it is that you get larger numbers infected and so more resources need to be diverted to helping them (obviously, you want to avoid people from getting sick as well from a humanitarian pov).
If the figure for today stays at 5136, the last few days case growth look like this:
29/03 - 9.45%
30/03 - 6.68%
31/03 - 7.32%
01/04 - 6.64%
02/04 - 5.59%
Very encouraging, but the states should also be declaring the number of recoveries too. If Victoria can do it then surely other states can based on their criteria?
If this continues then pretty soon the number of recoveries will start to outnumber the new cases and the overall numbers will start dropping.
I would literally be grabbing a life jacket and taking my chances in the briny depths if I was stuck on that fuckign thingRuby Princess has also left a Covid-19 cluster in its NZ wake:

Whoever let it dock in Napier a day after a ban on cruise ships docking was implemented has a lot to answer for.

They've stopped tracking scenarios 3 & 5.
As of 2:30pm on covid19data.com.au there were only 183 new cases reported. If my math is right that's a touch under 3.6% for the day.
Edit: Checking again and the total cases for today comes in at 222. A little under 4.5% for the day.
That’s simply because of the lag time between infection and death.Somewhat encouraging. But, there were 21 deaths Australia-wide in March and now seven in the first three days of April. Not good.
