Except Tubs Taylor. Fuck that guy is distilled inanity, if that's even possible. Never has anything original to say, and if you pay attention, quite often says something that the other comms mentioned about 30 seconds beforehand.
When I was watching Aus v Sco the other day, Taylor was commentating with Mark Waugh.
Taylor asked Waugh when the last time Michael Clarke opened the batting for Australia in an ODI. Waugh said a while ago but he didn't know. Taylor kept pushing him and gave a hint that it was against South Africa. Waugh said "I don't know, maybe 2011?"
Taylor said 2009 was the answer.
Waugh pushed him and said what was the point of all that.
Taylor said that it was just commentary.
Waugh said "is it?".
I thought it was pretty poignant. The Channel 9 mentality is that spending a couple of minutes talking about some meaningless statistic that their stats man has put in front of them counts as detailed analysis rather than actually talking about the cricket that is being played.
Clearly the disdain for the Channel 9 commentators extends beyond Australian living rooms.
