We are getting more out of the High Court than the elected government of the country.

What can one really say about Scott Morrison other than he is a rotten carcass in a suit. This bloke knows no limits and when you think he couldn't get any lower, he defies that completely.

It can be said to think with your head rather than your heart but this issue just doesn't fit with that as it would be sub-human to feel nothing from the heart on this issue.

The Banality of Evil.

History is going to judge the previous and current governments harshly. Their myopic focus on offshore processing and implementing whatever means necessary to achieve their dog whistle to the bigots and xenophobes is soul crushing.

Abbott's latest iron-man rant about not being held ransom to "emotional blackmail" is sickening. How are these 'men of god' able to rationalise human misery and suffering as a cynical act?

Heartless pricks, both those in government and those that support these policies.

The shame is big tax dodgers slip the net
http://www.smh.com.au/business/comm...-tax-dodgers-slip-the-net-20140709-3bnb6.html

"And a large part of the ethics hinges on the source of the income. If you make it here, then siphon it off to Switzerland, you have probably done the wrong thing."

"The likes of Apple, Google, Amazon, Glencore; they rack up billions in income in Australia and pay virtually no income tax. They shift their profits to tax havens. News Corporation even received an $882 million tax rebate last year.
For individuals and corporations alike, the naming and shaming is a good thing, a modest deterrent perhaps for those who are capable of feeling shame. Linking tax dodgers to political donations is a good step too.
But the main game should be enforcing the laws without fear and favour. The laws are already in place, they don't require the imprimatur of a G20, they just need to be enforced by our sovereign authorities."

As I've said previously, there is no debt/deficit crisis. It was/is a political construct designed by the Coalition.

However, Australia cannot afford lost revenues.

Have MT and Clive Palmer cooked up something?

Remember, TA said that he would resign if the carbon tax repeal wasn't passed.

I think the reason Palmer is in parliament is simply a vendetta against the LNP and he is having a wow of a time fucking the government around. It is all a big game to him.

"lifters, not leaners"

Another three-word slogan.

An odious phrase.

Got one that I hate more: started working for a large Aussie retailer nearly seven years ago. The IT shop is on the big side and services several retail divisions. First general IT meeting in the auditorium and he tried this out: "we have to remember that we're burners, not earners"

Like to see the c***s sell anything without a PC to scan it...

He is having a ball fucking with the Queensland Government. As long as he does not overplay his hand between now and next March he'll have a few in Parliament here and Newman's boys will be competing for jobs with all the public servants they sacked.

No budget emergency, say economists
http://www.smh.com.au/business/no-budget-emergency-say-economists-20140711-zt4kz.html

"Leading economists have rejected the federal government's claims of a ''budget emergency", saying it is only a medium-term "problem" rather than a crisis, which should be dealt with sooner rather than later.

The economists who took part in BusinessDay's midyear economic survey also rejected the notion of a "debt crisis''. One said it was an abuse of the language to apply the term to Australia.

There is/was no budget crisis/emergency - it is/was a political construct initiated by the Coalition to gain office and to introduce their regressive plans.

TA has really put his foot in it with his comments about Japan.

His comments have certainly stirred up diggers, etc.

He really is an idiot. Big mouth and an empty head. It was a dumb thing to say but the RSL also has a habit of losing the plot themselves.

Ok it is a new week and let's see what gems the government can chuck up this week. Thinking of their stella Senate performance last week, just remember "the adults are in charge".

Will Tony Abbott be able to participate or is he still having his lips surgically removed from Shinzo Abe's backside?

Carbon tax savings may be a mirage

http://www.smh.com.au/federal-polit...t-dont-expect-big-savings-20140713-zt65e.html

"The $550 figure comes from Treasury modelling ahead of the introduction of the tax in 2012. But only $250 of it came from electricity and gas prices. The rest came from much smaller imposts on items such as food ($46) clothing ($29) and rent ($23). Many of the items modelled by the Treasury had price impacts described as "less than 10 cents per week".
The latest iteration of the legislation will include no penalties for businesses who don't pass their energy savings on, making a one-off saving of $250 per household more likely.
"I think that's an overestimate,” Climate Institute chief executive John Connor said on Sunday. "Gas prices are climbing sharply for reasons unconnected with the carbon tax, so it's unlikely there will be any cut in the gas price".

Go down to the war memorial and there is a model of a Japanses cruiser in the passageway. When our troops were being send to the middle east in WW1 they were escorted by that cruiser.
