After a couple of false starts, lets get going!
Winter rowing should be banned, the boys should be playing rugby or whatever!

I hope that is true about Shore. How many of the Shore rugby players are rowing? I would assume a lot more than at other schools.
A previous post on this thread suggested that 5 Riverview rowers have been winter training, that could be the loss of those boys to rugby.
I hope that is true about Shore.
This specialisation is unhealthy: its no coincidence that there are 8 in a boat and 8 in a pack. Part of nature's symmetry.
Because focusing on a single sport tends to occur in the context of seeking an outcome in that sport.Hi IS i'm new to this thread and I have to say i'm not sure if I quite agree with it being unhealthy for boys to specialise in one sport. I mean if a boy wants to focus on one sport, whats so wrong with that?

School sport should be about the process not the outcome.
It was my grip for a number of years, especially when I saw a metro north rep give up rugby for rowing. Having seen a generation of boys come through it has been an eye opener as to how boys who do not grow until 14 have a sport in which they can excel.Forget about these view and grammar boys at mosman, there have been more than a few sightings of a eight of just shore boys rowing out of sydney. oh but they surely just play rugby..

If schools want to be competitive and go sub 5:55 in the 8+, they need to row through Winter. Scotch taught all NSW Schools a lesson last year, by winning with a length plus and they did it. By how far Australian U19 crews are behind the world's standard tells a look at the o/s results by that top crew.
