Oakhill 1st XV 17 - 40 Shore 1st XV
A unique spectacle for Schoolboy footy tonight as these two played under lights at North Sydney Oval.

Shore showed their muscle in the first 5 minutes through their cohesive and go-forward play. This led to two tries in the first 15 minutes giving them a 14-0 advantage. Similarly to the Riverview game Oakhill was able to bounce back quickly although down a man (yellow carded) with a try in the corner through some swift ball movement from the backs.

Although that was just about where the fun ended for Oakhill. The game grew into a good contest for all of 5 minutes before Shore started to flex their muscles, earning multiple penalties, surging them towards Oakhill’s line
Half time Shore 28-5 Oakhill.

From half time on the game never really grew into a contest with Oakhill losing at the breakdown, backed up by Shore’s fluent backline. Before you knew it the score was out to 40-10, with Oakhill scoring their final try as the full time bell went.

All in all a great night of Schoolboy footy (credit to the Shore boys with some really good chants), with Shore taking the choccies and maybe cementing themselves as the favourite for that GPS title. As for Oakhill, it’ll have to be back to the drawing board, who couldn’t execute in the wet.

MM OUT.

No disrespect to Oakhill but a win to Shore in this game does not necessarily make them favourites for the GPS title. There is a lot of talk about Shore this year but lets not get the cart before the horse!

Kinross played TAS in Coonabarabran on Saturday for their annual fixture. Kinross had a good day out. 1st XV won 51-0, 2nd XV won 53-0, 3rd XV won 33-0, 16A won 22-5, 15A won 63-15, 14A won 76-0, 13A won 87-0.
Unbelieveable! That's a rout! Well done Kinross. A few years in the wilderness and it looks like they're coming back. Again, one result doesn't necessarily mean and trend but it's good to see them get up.

Weekend results - well done ISA! A good start from everyone (including Oakhill's previous wins this year).

Result of the round has to go to Pius. A win over one of last year's big hitters in CAS is a fantastic result and the very best of starts to their season.
Honourable mention to the A grade rout of TAS by Kinross too.

I have heard from sources that the ISA comp in Div 1 comp has now started to integrate some of the Div 2 schools into them which I think is a really good, similar to the GPS comp with Grammar and Sydney Boys. It will be interesting to see these new additions:
Central Coast 1st XV --> Opens 2s comp
Scots All Saints 1st XV --> Opens 3s comp
Chev 1st XV --> Opens 3s comp
Oxley 1st XV --> Opens 3s comp
Kinross 3rd XV --> Opens 4s comp
Gregs 3rd XV --> Opens 4s comp
Barbarians? (maybe Redfield, Blue Mountains, Redlands, St Andrews combined) XV --> Opens 4s comp
Kinross 4th XV --> Opens 5s comp

Personally I think these changes are great for the future of the ISA, and for programs like Oaks and Auggies they will get to face a healthy amount of ISA competition, rather than getting matched up to Joeys 11s every second week.

Think you’ve hit the nail on the head there. As being an observer of the Oakhill camp for the past couple years, lots of the lower grade teams would - as you said, be matched up against Joeys or Riverview every 2nd week, making it not as enjoyable for the boys playing.

I think this is undeniably a step in the right direction for the ISA as there’s not only more competition/diversity for the top schools like Auggies and Oakhill, but also overtime help in creating and fostering some strong Rugby programs for those current Div 2 Schools where then we can eventually/possibly have a 10 team competition.

Shore during the preseason had already been touted as a very strong cohort this year. With a big win against TSS in Brisbane just last week, and then to back it up with a completely dominant victory against an Oakhill team in somewhat good form with a very good cohort themselves can only push them right up there into that “Favourites” tier along with the likes of Joeys and Newington.

Yes this is correct and confirmed via the ISA Website.

This is a similiar process to what happens in the girls schools and it seems to work quite well.

I too think it's great and wish all the Div 2 schools luck in their first season. 5 Opens grades is a great result.

3. Julian Carruthers
4. Will Casey
5. Tom Alloggia

News:
- Zeke Logo injured himself during the Shore game, being replaced by Will Casey at lock.
- Luca Caruso, the powerhouse known as the Italian Stallion, makes his way into the team as the blindside flanker, marking his first start since the Barker trial game in 2023.
- Coveted scrumhalf Taite Howells replaces Flynn Farrell - seems like they will be flexed each game and then every couple of weeks swap starting roles between the ones and twos??
- Max Gioiello replaces Jack Taylor Hannify for his first First XV start of the year.

Edit: Tom Halmarick is out with a broken nose. Darcy Feltham moves to fullback whilst Cyrus Bloomfield will make his debut.

I've heard that the number 15 broke had a head injury during the shore game and did not return after halftime. Surprised he is playing this week. Perhaps they move Feltham to fullback and bring back Jack Taylor Hannify or give another young player in Cyrus Bloomfield an oppurtunity.
Information from internal sources suggests a strong possibility that Cyrus Bloomfield will make his debut this Saturday, stepping in for Tom Halmarick, who unfortunately sustained a broken nose during the last play of the first half against Shore.

The exact position for Cyrus, Feltham, or Gioiello remains uncertain, but my prediction leans towards Darcy Feltham taking the Fullback spot and Cyrus starting on the wing.

It's remarkable to see one 15 year old stepping out in Lukas Butler and another stepping right in. This promising succession bodes well for the talented youngsters from Castle Hill and is a credit to their vastly improved rugby program over the years.
