Short Match report from a G&GR snout at Rat Park.

CHS scored early, surprising ISA with a driving mall from a 5m lineout. the scoring in the remainder of the 1st 1/2 was to ISA

ISA 1st XV 17 - CHS 1st XV 7 at oranges.

CHS turned the screws in the second and scored early to get within 3, after absorbing a significant period of pressure the ISA capitalised on a turnover around their own 22 and good broken play attack allowed them to score a wide try.

A second try under the post converted took ISA to 29 with around 10minutes to go. This meant CHS needed to score three times in the last period to snatch victory. Though the Combined High Schools team gave themselves every opportunity they could only manage one more try.

Unfortunately The CHS fullback 15. Taulago LALAGA was carried from the field with what appeared to be a significant injury, This lad was causing a fair bit of trouble for the ISA defence, from the CHS v CAS report he was doing much the same there as well.

Final Score: ISA 1st XV 29 (5 tries 2 conversions) def
CHS 1st XV 19 (3 tries 2 conversions)

CHS Tries: 1. Harry JOHNSON-HOLMES (2) and 3. Aistan FIDOW
ISA Tries: 12. Luke LOUGH, 14. Harrison O'TOOLE, 8. Mila HINGANO and A.N Other. One of the above scored two tries.

ISA 1st XV Team List as per above.

Sorry don't have the full 2XV team list but I assume Fraser Toohey, Elia Faatui, Ryan Chelvarajah, Andy Graham and a winger from Oakhill #14 Dalores would be in the 2XV ISA team and ones to watch for NSW or Combined States selections. There are around 4 or 5 Oakhill boys and I am sure other ISA teams would have a few good players as well that may surprise. Can any other supporters of the other ISA schools add some info on players to watch? Maybe another Yeomans amongst them. (BTW Yeomans didn't look out of place in the Australian Schoolboys team did he?) Is he still playing?

@HJ. I was right all along. There is another Yeomans in ISAII :D @No4

A couple of ISA lads may needed to join the NSW Shadow List as they have lost a Prop, Hooker, Halfback and Fullback to Combined States.

Additionally, going on past history, Hugh's Law says that at least two players from the Shadow List will be called up for duties at National Tournament following injury before or during Nationals, so there could be surprises in order for some other ISA representatives.

There's more knowledgeable heads considering this team but from an outsiders point of view (and parochial St. Pat's fan) I would think the ISA could consider themselves hard done by with only two starters in the run on 1sts.

Having said that, I wouldn't like to be a selector trying to compare apples with oranges with that team. Good luck to the ISA lads and I hope they acquit themselves well :)

Where is John (bonnie) Hopoate?? - St Auggies
CIS rugby league - Australian Schoolboys comp.

Here is the list for Rugby League CIS team. How do Augustines breed so many good footballers?? Quite a fair few ISA boys in this team. 5 Augustines and 2 Oakhill. Some are having a crack at both Rugby reps and League. 2 from this list have made higher honours in the Rugby reps. Don't know if they have to choose or if they can play both? I know Papenhuyzen, the Oakhill fullback, played fullback for NSW under 18's in the recent Origin in MLB. Shame he didn't choose to front up for the Rugby reps.

Harrison O'toole, St Augustine's College
John Hopoate, St Augustine's College
Elia Faatui, St Augustine's College
Aaron Pidcock, Snowy Mountains Grammar School
Jake Morrison, St Augustine's College
Hayden Yates, Bishop Tyrrell Anglican College
Dylan McLachlan, The Scots College
Troy Dargan, Knox Grammar School
George Francis, St Augustine's College

Have a look at the U15 CIS team and you'll notice a pattern......The CIS U15s performing particularly well at the Schoolboys comp this year.

The ISA boys in the CIS league team all play for their school Union team (as do all the boys in the CIS league team of course) but I'd wager that the good results seen at the U16 Schoolboys Union tournament - from the ISA boys - on the weekend is going to be repeated in 2016.

A high percentage of boys on the peninsula play league and union at some point - always have - right back to when I was a kid in the 70s.

Anyone know the selection criteria for Nt Schools?
Just a bit confused how a player goes from NSW schools shadow to representing Nt Schools, is this through lack of numbers or is this a usual occurrence ?

Hugh Jarse

Rocky Elsom (76)
Possibly filling gaps, but it may be that these lads have a connection to the NT, perhaps they or their parents were born there, or have lived there for a significant period. I recall a couple of years back a lad who was boarding at Kings, but who's parents resided in the Top End was selected for the NT Schools team.

Who really cares? The NT team, and the Oakhill boys will both benefit from this opportunity, and good luck to them.
