Yes I agree, and he has a very good 'rugby brain,' reads the game well.
If I heard right, and correct me if I'm wrong CTPE, but the King's 1sts is as follows:
1. James King
2. Jono Burke
3. Lucas Bateman
4. George Lehman
5. Ben Stacy
6. Sam Connor
7. Jack McCalman
8. David Ballintyne
9. Rory Davis
10. Charlie Friend
11. Olly Martin
12. Will Davies
13. Cameron Mullen
14. Tom Bucknell
15. James Kane

inj. Corey Tulloch

Yeah - heard that Tulloch was in a "moon boot" at AAGPS Athletics on the weekend! Hope this isn't too bad - he's a class act! CTPE - any word on the nature or severity of the injury? Good luck to him regardless!

This looks like quite a good team and there are a few players in the list I notice from their 2012 16As in King, Lehman, Ballintyne, Mullen and Kane and most of these were also in the U16 GPS team from last year as well. From last years Opens programs it looks like they have about 5 players returning from the 2012 firsts in Burke, Bateman, Mccalman, Davies and Tulloch although from MrRugby37's note he is injured atm. They have plenty of class and hard workers in their back rowers with Mccalman the stand out and Stacy has received a few wraps in recent posts. Ballintyne impressed me last year in the games I saw him play in and I am looking forward to his clash with Angus Crichton when Kings come to Scots in the GPS first round. Its a pretty solid and mobile front row and in Bateman they have a technically excellent scrummager. In the backs James Kane is very classy and also very quick and Davis and Davies are very good players and have both played for NSW Schools. I still think that there depth might be questionable though so what is the strength of their 2nds and 3rds like?

I saw Jack Bowditch from Riverview at the GPS athletics on Saturday and he looks a monstrous size. Any Riverview contributors know what he is weighing atm?
Not sure exact weight but I saw him out there as well and looks in the 115-120 range...big difference is that NGS off season has turned the weight into pretty much just muscle..also he is fit where in 2012 he was coming back after 6 months out with a knee injury... Should have a good season...

'Pretty much just muscle' might be a bit generous, but you're right he should be looking at a big season. There has been much hype around him ever since his U13s days, so this year may be his opportunity to prove himself in the opens competition. With a few good games in the early rounds I wouldn't be surprised seeing him in a GPS jersey later on (especially the Newington game, as their front row is lacking a bit of experience by all accounts, so it could be a good opportunity for him to dominate.)

No 2. Cater at Shore.

There are some here that have named him in their GPS team. Is he injured?

The Shore team looks a very rounded bunch with potential to be even better in 2014 when some of these lads will be in their 3rd year in the 1st XV.

Ankle injury but apparently not severe and he might be back for the Joeys trial the weekend after next and if not then the first round against Scots.

I haven't seen a team list but these selections are in line with most pundits predictions. Rob Black, a likely 5 or 6 is also unavailable at present due to his selection in an Australian Rowing team. Looking forward to hearing about their first hit out for the year against Stannies this weekend.

No he is not injured, i believe that the issue is that Cater is too big to play in the hooker position in comparison to the front row shore can compile so they have him playing in the second row.

^^^ I have heard that they are playing St Gregs, but Gregs wouldn't have enough teams for a viable day so there must be other schools involved.

IIRC Gregs have already played a trial against Gregs and belted them. Perhaps Gregs 1s play Joeys 2's or 3's this time?

How's Kellaway going at #10? I'm still interested by that one...
