The 15As COACH for this year at BBC is the same one that last years 15As had and he is the reason I hear that they performed so well.
An exceptional Kiwi who's motivational talks before games gave the boys the belief that they could beat anyone .
The talk before they played NC in the 2nd round apparently pushed the boys to beat a team that the previous year they had lost 75-nil to and NC boys never recovered from.
Now he is there their secret weapon to the new nursery of imports at BBC.I hear from last years boys that also as a specialist backs coach he has the skills and (when the imports mostly arrived the week before term 3 ) forsight foresight to build and bind a team.
So the boys are just wondering who could still turn up for any age I hear it is building into a season to hold your breath in all ages and grades at BBC

Yes, well done. Those same 15 boys who were wooden spooner's in the 14A's must be very proud of what they achieved as 15A's. Amazing what hard work and motivational speeches can do.

Fair few overly vigorous BBC supporters on here and just as many ready to knock them over with the "you bought a team" stick.

Problem with that is every other team in the GPS is guilty of bringing in rugby talent outside of the normal GPS enrollment process to at least some degree.

Lets move on.

I for one will be pleased to see some amazing rugby being played across all the age groups this year. And I am sure we are all going to see a variety of schools in the top 3 of each age group (not just NC and Churchie).

Good for rugby. Good for the kids and good for the rusted-on supporters. May the best team win and may each and every boy enjoy playing for and supporting their school. And those who want to find problems with teams enjoying success can rave and rant on the other forum not so far from here!

Ikitau is the only 15A from last year to be in the 1st's that I have heard at this stage.
With importing to the BBC especially some great WA boys the rest of the 15 A'S will find it hard to make the 1st's.

One thing needs to be made clear.BBC did not chase/recruit the WA boys(2 of whom will be in the 1st xv)they were referred by a new teacher who was from WA & is now coaching the 13A.

What are the BBC 15a like. Any new players and I have heard BSHS have got a few players in and a good coach . Might be a surprise this year.. But don't know if it's true . NC 15'a don't look as strong as previous years although NC were average last year . Churchie look solid in trials and ippy off the pace but new coach might turn them around also

I think it is fair to say the 15s will be BBC s weakest age group .The 15A drew 20 all with BSHS but they have lost 5 players(1 expelled) and 4 injured from the As of last year.New number 8 from league but the no locks at all.

High hopes for the BBC 14A with the new 6 foot 2 centre "from the bush" sent over by the Broncos and 7 teams in the age group.

Firstly thanks for fixing my spelling and grammar mistakes.....are we back in school now??!!
The 14A boys from the previous year were the basis of the 15A'S last year.
The boys who then were in the B's continued to watch and clap the A's as they enjoyed beating teams like TSS in the last round who had beaten them 96-nil the previous year.
Everyone should be thankful that BBC is not the easy beats but are now competitive in the Qld GPS comp.
The main winner I see with this is RUGBY! ( lord I hope I have spelt my words correctly....)

This is recruiting of course it is!
It is how all the GPS Schools in Qld do it.
The talent is in finding boys that have future potential and are going to grab the opportunity to be part of the amazing GPS entire system.
NOT walk around like they are more important than the full total of the Schools they are lucky to be involved in.Again go rugby

The new boarding Master you mean.

"I am moving to Qld to a School that is looking for good quality rugby players, would you be interested if I put in a word for you and get a fee reduction"

So could you please define the true meaning of recruiting?

BBC had 5 teams in the 14 year age group in the mid 70s,and with all the recruiting they have done in the past 24 months, plus the age group re alignment, one would expect that number.

That was the era when it was compulsory to play Rugby, unless you were in a wheelchair or only had one leg, and that been the case you would have still got a bagging from the seniors for been soft.

Dear Mr Moderator
Can you tell "Underdone"(with the chip on his shoulder) & others that this forum is about rugby "not importing"

There is a separate forum on "scholarships" with hundreds of posts for you to tug yourself on.
Get back to rugby.

The post is about the under ages ... I don't give a rats if players are on a deal or not let's play rugby boys ... Enjoy the game and talent from the 13f to the 1st ... Go get then and may the best team on the day win... Bring on the season ... Love to see some of the lesser schools take out a few of the lower age groups..

Thoughts on this ... >>>>> How great would it be to see a gala day of grand finals for the under age groups at the end if the season and I don't think 1st should be part of it as I believe their time to shine is in the last round in front of a home ground or away teams venue...

Noticed there's a lot of talk about BBC, NC, ACGS taking out a majority of the age groups. How are the likes of TGS, IGS and the others (1st to 13's)

Barker has looked for committment to training -with the 1st 's rowing coach helping the rugby program. You are forgetting that Smith did not play against NC last year where BBC were all over them. They also had Cotton and Stead in the backline who were very strong also.Smith is still struggling with understanding union and his ability to pass in a backline and not continually running up with the ball and not passing.
Any of the 15As of last years backline have the skills but lets see who starts and ends the season in the 1st's at BBC as Barker is spoilt for choice.
I believe he will pick who will slot into the already 13 chosen ones the best.As only 2 positions on the backline still in contention.
Should be interesting, to see if the fittest make it in.

My point is Ikitau and Verevis were the difference and main contributors to the 15A's success last year. They were BBC's best by far. A couple of injuries could see Verevis in the top grade. As for the Nudgee game last year, it was Ikitau's solo try that won the game. Hunt would have covered Smith anyway. Never heard any excuses from NC about that loss.

NC are still in shock from it.But I hear that NC have some new boys for the 16A's.The main problem was the coach at NC thought he had that game won before they ran on the field.
The boys were totally in shock and that was plain to see on the day.
The forwards at BBC out played them that day with the entire backline playing as a team. That is how they won that game Not with just two players!
That was what was instilled in them from their coach.
No two boys can win a game alone.

BBC15A + Smith - Verevis - Ikitau = Loss
