BGS will be taking on Downlands up the ranges. Hopefully Samoan #8 will be lining up in the Cambridge Blue 1st XV trial jersey. Expect to see some big hits from the man himself if anyone goes up to the garden city.

IGS v State High at Sunnybank next Wednesday Night

Should be quite a conflict .........

Given that it is State of Origin Night

Expect to see @WebbEllis marching around Farmers land on the weekend calling the shots as Manager for the BGS 1st XV. Radio communication skills of @WebbEllis are superior to anyone in the competition.

The GPS 1 backline is as expected except most people thought Wall of GT ,would be 9 and Pritchard would be 12.
Ikatu was a probable at 13 and the 4 aussie 7 squad members were always going to be in.
Luka, Swain,Hewatt and Farell in the forwards were all Qld 1 last year.

so IMO most people over our way think 9 players in GPS 1 were already pencilled in and from what saw they rose to the occassion.
well said B&W
objective , fair summary

The weekend of the second last trial game before the season starts for most teams.

It's a funny time of year for GPS Rugby boffins, coaches and players.

Soothsayers, Witch Doctors and Horoscope specialists are being enlisted to pray for no injuries at State Schoolboys, which seems as if it is almost specifially designed to end the GPS season of players before its even started. It also has the uncanny potential to nose dive the chances of whole teams in one go!

You'd be better off arm wrestling Wendall Sailor!

The support groups are on edge - The BBQ-ers and burger assemblers are getting last minute tips and being told that they will have to step up for round 1. "If we are going to beat the T-Ba burger this year, we're going to have to push harder!" is a common cry echoing from under pop up marquees from Southport to Boondall.

The pushy dads whisper quietly in coaches ears for the last ditch attempt to weasel little Jonny into the A's. Coaches finally realize the names of a couple of players who have been training for months.

Grammar are getting edgy as usual and have planned their trip to the Downies to chalk up an early win.

BBC are jumping on board their mini-buses to go down the coast and quietly check just how far behind TSS they actually are across the grades. Although they may be closer than last year!

Ippy jumping in the Torana's down to Royal Tennyson for a run in with the sleeveless parkas and to check the new scholarship quota of the Red & Black.

The Range Rovers will be taken through Hoppy's and warmed up for a drag up to Boondall. NO it's not as far as Noosa Churchie mums, but you do have to cross the creek and the BWS will be open by the time you hit Nundah!

Despite a 3 or 4 from each First XV missing - we might get a bit of a read this weekend on who is actually in the top 4. And it would seem we'll get a very clear picture of where each of the grades sit too.

I might wheel my deck chair out and take a seat in the sun myself...pass the scones and my hip flask...

Too funny. Seems to be more new centres at GT than a Lowry /Westfield drawing board.

TSS up over BBC 5 tries to 4.
A draw would have been a fair result, but TSS scored from a charge-down in the last minute.

I've said it before, but I can't believe neither of the No. 8s (Gunter and Pere) are in any of the GPS teams.

Churchie went down to Nudgee 6 tries to 4. Arm wrestle at the start, then Nudgee's backs ran away with it 4 tries to nil, Churchies forwards were much stronger than Nudgee for the most part, but Nudgee's backs classy. All tries to Churchie were due to pick and drives on the line. Nudgee started with 5 of their starters not playing and by the end of the game had 9 of their starters off. Best were #6 for Nudgee and #8 for Churchie.

Oh stop it. Name the 5 missing then the 9 missing. Attrition from injury in game does not count. Really!

A couple of good photos, but mostly rubbish, due to the weather.
I had to put the camera away for most of the second half, so missed some good BBC tries.
