Just thought i'd chime in with a few things about some players being mentioned here.

The last I heard Louis Frisby was going to be heading back to league but now i'm hearing rumours he may have given up trying for a pro contract all together. He hurt his shoulder playing for GPS reserve grade a month ago and word is that he can't be bothered going back into a pro system. This is all speculation and he hasn't been seen around GPS lately so he may be off trialling somewhere but who knows.

Matt Garland i'm fairly sure is associated with the Waratahs now. Not exactly sure in what capacity but he played 2 trial games for GPS at the start of this season and then went to NSW. Ive been suprised his name hasn't popped up in any NSW comp forums etc.

Bryce Hegarty was in his last year of Bronco's under 20 and was told by Bronco's management that he wouldn't be given a full contract. He has since been approached by the Rebels (as seen in the photos) and Reds who are looking at giving him an EPS spot. His preference is to play union now apparently but there are offers around for league teams as well.

Ive watched all these guys play before and honestly any one of them would be a good pickup for the Rebels. All have plenty of skill and can play in ball-playing positions as well as having the pace to play a bit wider.

Thoughts on picking up Melbourne Lesa on an EPS contract next year?

I've seen a fair few Footscray games recently, love his solid running.

Very happy with Rebels recruits for next season, including a fit again Laurie Weeks!

However, the Rebels could only benefit from recruiting also from the VRU. The Neville story only emphasises this. Back a rookie in and you CAN strike gold!

Well we've got Ged and Tyrell, but we've also reportedly still got Tessman.

If we haven't got Tessman that'd be a good idea (having a back-up of the specialist positions in the EPS is a good idea, Hooker/Halfback).

This year we had Robinson, Freier, Tessman and Holmes (EPS).

Yeah, but I think that was pretty silly. M.Lesa is a pretty good player and whilst probably not a Super rugby player he could have easily filled a bench spot for 10-15 off the bench.

I hope not, but apparently you've signed our hooker down at Vikings Pat Leafa (Canberra Player of the Year 2012 & former Auckland Blues Academy/NPC).

Interesting, can't the Brumbies take him and we'll pitch our boy Saliva?

What are the opinions of our current coach Damien Hill? Personally, He is the man for the job, he seems to click with the team very well. I can't picture him losing his shit very often but that is not a bad thing.
Not convinced. The team is still wildly inconsistent, loses games it should win, concedes too many early points and regularly gets beaten up at the breakdown. I think he's done well in bringing Pyle, Jones and Neville along - but some of his selections are just weird (Phipps.) Basically I think he's okay, starting a team from scratch has got to be incredibly difficult, but I'm not sure how much further forward he can take them.

That is an interesting thought, and one where we will probably get an answer next year. He has done very well with the group in my opinion, but I think next year the group will need to take a decided step forward if he is to keep his job for the long run.

Need to claim a major scalp again with 4+ wins.

By major I mean either Queensland or NSW. Home for the former (not going to Brisbane this year) and home/away for the latter (always doing Sydney away).

I just struggle to think of who else should be coaching, people can banter about big names of coaches looking for jobs but I am not convinced what the Rebels need is a big name with set expectations from us. DH has the advantage of growing with our team and the behind the scenes folk who are his support. (Rod Mq)
As for how much further he can take them??? Who knows. 2013 will be a telling year.

Goals for 2013? I agree beat Qld/NSW is up on the priority list, an overseas win must be on the list and a win not conceding any bonus points maybe with a 4 try bonus point for the Rebels just to say Here We Are!

DH is the man for the job and Im sure is bursting to have a younger team that he can mould. Anything less than 8 wins will not be a good season. This organisation is building quickly towards being a threat for finals within the next couple of years.

After re-reading, Yes i see how stupid that was.
In my head i somehow pictured the Reds taking a leaf from the AFL books (Hawthorn and Tasmania etc.)
