Most talented 10 in the country by far, most talented Australian ten in 10 years+
He has his weaknesses but I can't fathom a new coach not wanting to see what he can get out of Quade. Not even interested in trying?. Pissweak

And even then when you decide you want to let him go, is there no benefit to him training with the team? Nothing he could teach the young fellas? Nothing good that might rub off?

Remember this man is a bloody long way removed from his immature start.

Mind blown.

Less faith that Thorn has what it takes after this.
Hope QC (Quade Cooper) finds a mega bucks gig and rips it up.

If it was me I'd just play club rugby for 2 years and collect my big fuck off wage. Fuck em.
Then I'd get a season ticket so every time the reds are getting humped at home the camera can zoom in on me in the crowd and give the commentators a chance to stick the boot into daft Reds mgmt and coaches.

Well, with the forum being fucked and all, and like...no.

PLEASE

A KAOP meltdown is the only thing that could make this palatable at the moment

I don't want to be a fair-weather fan but Thorny may have lost me with this one. QC (Quade Cooper) was the main reason I started supporting this franchise in the first place - I understand nobody can play forever and QC (Quade Cooper) has had major issues recently but this is disgraceful. I always wondered if my loyalty to him as a player would ever get tested against my loyalty to the franchise as a whole. Falling in love with the Genia/Quade/Link Reds was always going to set me up for heartbreak on some level, I guess.

Definitely won't be ordering another jersey or any shit like that this season. Seriously feels like everyone above the players at the Reds/Queensland HQ are actively going out of their way to make this franchise as difficult to support as possible.

At least QC (Quade Cooper) and I can both take solace in our good old Philadelphia Eagles having their best season in either of our lifetimes.. driven by excellent front-of-house management.. hmm..

Even from a purely PR/Marketing perspective this was probably the single most retarded way to go about this if Thorn didn't want to play QC (Quade Cooper) this year. PLUS YOU STILL ARE GOING TO HAVE TO PAY THE MAN, YOU IDIOTS. HE'S ON THE BIGGEST CONTRACT IN THE FRANCHISE AND YOU ALREADY DON'T HAVE ANY FUCKING MONEY AS IT IS. ALL THIS DOES IS MAKE YOU LOOK LIKE MORONS AS YOU OPENLY SHIT ON THE SINGLE MOST POPULAR QUEENSLAND PLAYER IN THE HISTORY OF PROFESSIONAL AUSTRALIAN RUGBY IN A SPORT WHERE THE FAIRWEATHER FANS WHO MAY ONLY KNOW 3-4 PLAYERS ON THE ROSTER (2 OF THEM BEING QUADE COOPER) ARE LITERALLY NECESSARY TO SUSTAIN THE SPORT FINANCIALLY. YOU FUCKING IDIOTS.

Is this just another "bold" decision from the guy who chased out our proven S&C staff last year and left us as one of the most unfit teams in the entire fucking competition?

absolute crap - There is NO WAY stewat and DP are anything near Quades level yet. I am completely against this decision. Can almost guarentee they won't see out Higs contract now.

Quade is completely entitled to sit around and just get paid by the reds, training part time with his club. OR if they pay him out, he can take that money and STILL go to Japan.
Stewart is not ready. Did we learn nothing from Mcintyre?!?!? What if Stewart gets injured....Then we get DP to 10, Hunt to 12 and what.....Maranta at 15?! What if DP get's injured? Maranta to 15 again. No backup specialist flyhalves, no backup 12's, no backup specialist 15's. Yet you shitcan the most experienced back. Good call. SHould have let him finish this season, allowed him the excuse that he is not part of WC plans then given him time to find a new club in the appropriate transfer windows. He deserved that.

From what it says, Thorn sat down with Cooper and had an honest chat with him about where he is in his plans.

It then says Cooper is training with his club side, not the Reds.

Has Thorn imposed a ban on him? I find that hard to believe. Or is this part a product of Cooper’s disappointment.

From my perspective it would be regrettable if this was the way that Cooper finishes his Reds career - but can Thorn really be blamed for being honest with a player.

Really don't feel sorry for a bloke on about $800.000 - $1million per year and for the next 2 years.

He will probably sit in coffee shops for a couple of years, soak up $800 grand to a Million from the coffers of the ARU and Reds combined and then still pull a lazy million per year after that., playing in Japan. Might even have a few boxing matches to supplement his income.

He is still Quade Cooper and the name is bankable (still)

Again, it was the way it as done (as with others), that has been less than impressive.

2018 is going to be an interesting year and a couple of young blokes are going to be thrust into the limelight, probably a bit before they should be (Just like QC (Quade Cooper) was, back in the day)..

If the Reds get some early wins BT will be lauded as coach (for making the tough calls blah blah), if not, he will come under a lot of early fishbowl pressure.

Why ? It was a joke signing Moore to a 3 year deal..

Because they’re bloody broke and they keep cutting people mid-contract. They’ll have to keep paying his contract and won’t find an alternative for 2018, Reds are going to seriously struggle in depth.

I understand the Reds will not be paying out Moore's contract. Having said that they will have to pay out the other player's contracts unless they get a paying gig somewhere else, and I reckon at this stage of the season that will be a difficult thing to do. A lot of money they don't have ATM

I heard Frisby and Vanzati were told the same to train with their club side. Not required.

What is the Finacial situation of the Reds? It can't be good. If they are broke they will have to follow the instructions of the purse string holders namely the ARU. Most of the money for Quades deal probably comes out of the ARU coffers so it will be in thier interest to move him on more than the Reds. This smells of ARU involvement more than the Reds. Doesn't make sense to pay a bloke to not play or at the very least be in the squad.

This all seems very strange indeed. Why was Quade (and Frisby if it's true that he's gone as well) officially included in the squad announced this week if he was going to be cut?

Cant get behind the fire wall. Could someone post the title of the article?

OK found it. Just so it's on record, I don't support the move in any way. About the only strength is Thorn stamping "my way or the highway" or more to the point the Reds HQ happy to see these decisions with Thorn. Reds would have been far better to have managed the public perception of this without Thorn being involved. Vale Quade. You are a major portion of my rugby highlights since 2010. Nothing changes there anyway. Tops off the perfect nadir to rugby that was 2017. Must be time to re-visit mungo. I liked it once.

Ok - well, I am scratching my head on this then.

I realise that Thorn was not in the position to make these calls back in August/September last year but that is very tough on the players to go out and secure new contracts now.

Also very hard to secure players to replace them now as well
