RWC Week 4 matches

KOB1987

Rod McCall (65)
It's bizarre that there's no plan for this. If that park is ready on Sunday, there's no good reason they can't have a double-header there that day.

yes, play them later on Sunday or even on Monday. I know that means a shorter turnaround for the quarters for a team or two, but that's less unfair than a team missing out completely because there wasn't a plan B.

I'm mainly bummed we don't get to watch England V France - it was building to be a cracker of a match.

Not to mention from a business point of view, they will lose refunded ticket money but now they also lose international broadcasting for 2 games - England V France no doubt would pull in big numbers.

Or maybe the reason they can't be bothered switching stadiums is because they can now make a bigger claim to their insurer for damages from a typhoon.

seems pretty wild they don't have a contingency. Seriously, i'd much rather verse France than England.

so often these typhoons just peter out into a bit of a windy day. they hit Japan all the fucken time. BUT, after 3.11, Japan is understandably pants-shitting scared of Mother Nature and will err well and truly on the side of caution.

double header is a great idea. ffs, just move the whole lot up to Sapporo Dome, no typhoon up there.

have to wonder if it were a Tier 1 Big Boy - or Japan - in Italy's position just how harder IRB'd try for a solution. Instead it's basically "meh, Italy won't beat New Zealand, fuck 'em."

If Scotland v Japan is cancelled and Japan go through I hope the Scots raise merry fucking hell

I'd be disappointed if i were Italy - its an opportunity to face the AB's (and a chance to still qualify for the quarters if i understand correctly). I'd be cranky if i were France as their game was vital for where they end up in the pool. I'd be fucking pissed off if i was Scotland and they're game is cancelled too.

As a spectator im pretty peeved, i get the whole public safety thing biggest typhoon in 60yrs etc but surely they could of relocated the games away from the typhoon?

I guess there is a plan for the knock out rounds, so why not have a plan for games that are consequential for knock out rounds? Thats the part I don't get, they surely can't have a QF ending with 0-0 draw.

Hadn't occurred to me, but it was to be the final test match for both of Italy's centurions, Parisse and Ghiraldini.

Bit of a bum way to end long careers, especially when you were anticipating finishing against the All Blacks at a RWC.

Seems the head of Scottish Rugby has similar feelings to most of us here: https://www.bbc.com/sport/rugby-union/50011693

Dodson argued that rugby supporters around the world "are absolutely astounded at this rigidity from World Rugby" and thinks the match should be played on Monday if it cannot go ahead on Sunday.
"The common sense approach to this is to play the game 24 hours later on perfect safety where we can make sure that the pool stages are completed, and the sporting integrity of the tournament remains intact," he added.

In a tournament with four day turnarounds delaying a match 24 hours could have consequences for player safety. Also what do the Scotts think a city looks like 24 hours after a hurricane?

Sully, is it the case though between the last round robin games and the QFs? Haven't looked at the upcoming program, but I'd be surprised if any of the QFs were scheduled to occur mid-week.

Much as we don't like it I agree Sully and would be surprised if game is played on Sunday, I wonder how they can really expect there there to be no damage. And like it or lump it they cannot even move just one game, once the ABs/Italy and Pom/French games were cancelled as per participation agreement, they can't change any games or Italy ,France etc etc will then feel aggrieved.
