Nutter. Entertaining nutter, but nutter nonetheless. Still, his club's winning comps in both Europe and France on the regular, and still churning a profit. 2 Test demands and the Cash money just makes it absolutely ridiculous though.

SARU, SANZAR and Boudjedal sitting at a negotiating table. Now there's an entertaining thought.

They all deserve each other.

Ahh.........I think you'll find that neither the ARU or NZRU are involved in the clusterf@#k. This is yet another SARU special.

It it involves a Super Rugby franchise how would SANZAR not be involved?

Each Super Rugby franchise falls under the auspices of their national Union. The only time the ARU and NZRU had any say was in agreeing to the new format. Neither the SARU or NZRU had any dealings when the Rebels were sold to a private consortium as they don't fall under their jurisdiction. These talks are between the SARU and Boudjedal and only those two parties. Anything that comes of these talks are solely on the SARU and Boudjedal.

So anyone can sell a Super Franchise and SANZAR will have nothing to do with it? They have no say?

The sale of a franchise is up to the individual Unions.

Yes it's entirely up to the SARU and Kings.. but it's also fairly standard that as part of the contractual agreement to participate in Super Rugby the clubs have to meet certain SANZAR requirements, failure to adhere to those requirements could see the team expelled from the competition.

However in terms of the sale, that will be entirely on the Kings and the SARU, SANZAR wouldn't be directly involved, rather just a third part to witness that the sale is in compliance with the initial agreement.

Well the Kings are bankrupt.

As things stand right now there is a chance that their players might not take the field because their salaries are not being paid. Their Supreme Leader Cheeky Watson might have been a good political activist but seems he should not be running a rugby franchise. These guys are going to be a disaster next year.

Why did the SARU advocate the Kings inclusion into Super Rugby if their financial situation was so dire?

Mix some ANC political pressure with a good dose of incompetence. Season generously with a few big egos. Stir well and serve.

You don't seriously think that things like logic, due diligence, proof of financial backing, contract conditions and other time wasting tidbits should get in the way?

Infrastructure is falling to pieces in South Africa. Corruption is rife. Rugby is not going to be spared. It's not about delivery. That birdie flew out the window a long time ago. It's about political agendas and enriching yourself in the process. South Africa is slowly descending into a corrupt mess.

According to new reports, Kings players are still waiting for their October salaries.

^^^^^^^ yup, SARPA gave them 10 days to pay up & that didn't happen. They've also been late every other month since June & that's one of the reasons Carlos Spencer walked.

Relates to Currie Cup but if they can't pay the wages for that comp it doesn't look good for them being able to do it for Super Rugby.

Surely nobody wants to sign for the Kings unless no other team wants you. They are going to be whipped week in and week out.

Under these situations the French nutter might not be a bad option?

Though it would be an elevator for high talent to the Top 14.

All this worry that Japan wouldn't pull finger and get their team sorted. At this rate SARU will end up with the egg on its fat incompetent face.

More players walking out and some of the Kings players have been given food vouchers by the Player's Association

SARU's response? They are "monitoring the situation". :D
