Super Rugby 2023 QF: Chiefs v Reds

Funny how they lift against the Chiefs, great finals rugby where the result was not certain right up to the last 7 or so minutes.

Our three best performances of the year were all in New Zealand over the last month and a bit. That’s hopeful

I wonder how much of that change in mentality/performance was a bit of “Thorn’s Last Dance”. The main criticism of his coaching is that we always got doutzed by Kiwi teams. So he’s flipped that a bit to finish up.

He's not a philosopher, he's a disappointed footballer. He can say what he likes.
I think we have to not always expect these fellas to say the exact right thing when they knackered and disappoited after the game. Emotion spills out a bit more when you exhausted whether positive or negative.

How does tate get poleaxed without the ball and nothing happens but dmax gets hit slightly late and it's a penalty. The Waikato crowd is pretty embarrassing. Booing Lyner

See what happens when you have a decent ref. You get an actual game of footy. Even though old mate kicked it 2m forward into Makenzie who played the ball a mile offside in the last 3 min

Didn't get the win but it was a phenomenal effort. Big message sent to Eddie from a lot of the players, Faessler, Smith, McReight, Wilson, McDermott, O'Connor, Vunivalu, Flook and Campbell all pressed their claim tonight. Even a guy further from the squad like Blyth gave him plenty to think about. If he's serious about big game form being the key to selection this game has got to be a big tick for a lot of those players.

Missed Retallick cold to generate momentum for Chiefs decisive try
