I for one am looking forward to seeing Samo on the wing (just for a laugh while having a few beers). He'll have 40 minutes max and then be subbed off.

He may as well just play Higginbotham on the wing as he'll be spending most of the game out there anyways...

As for Samo. Supposedly our first choice no 8. Has only started 3 tests there.

You'd think he might want some more game time there?

It's no wonder our performances are becoming as erratic as the French.

Samo has played 6 before. If need be he can go back into a forward role and let Higgers take over on the wing.

With the cattle in that side the better option would have been Samo at 6, Higgers to 13 and AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) to ramain on the wing where he is showing form.

Strange selection indeed, but Samo might even play a tight role and make some crash balls here and there which will open up space for the ball to be spread as he needs more than one player to take him down. Having him on the wing for this game isn't a huge concern but will be happy to see him wearing 8 for the QF's. That is if he doesn't have a heart attack from another 60m sprint to the line ala 3N at Suncorp.

Agree that Samo will probably be defending the 10 channel rather than playing too wide.

Also like the combination of Berrick & AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) in the centres, think that is a better setup for knockout stage. With Digby & JOC (James O'Connor) on wings, if Drew has a good game then he should be on bench for Quarters.

Isn't the overriding issue: what does this Oct 1 team mean in terms of a selection strategy and player readiness for the QF event of Oct 8 or 9, just 7 or so days after we play Russia. We are likely to be then playing a rising SA.

- we have no replacements at this time for multiple injured players so any replacements post Oct 1 will have zero Wallaby game time pre the QF and approx 6 days with the squad pre-QF

- we have no credible 7 back up to Pocock

- what if McCabe and Horne are not ready for the QF?

- Samo - meant to be a key forward - is now playing wing

- history would indicate that there will be at least one new injury out of the Oct 1 game

Oh well, it's only the RWC, only happens every 4 years. There's next year's 4N to look forward to, and an EOY game v Barbarians.

We aren't going to carry one on the bench, Palu's replacement will depend on how Pocock finishes

- what if McCabe and Horne are not ready for the QF?
11 Mitchell
12 Barnes
13 AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper)
14 JOC (James O'Connor)
15 Beale

Faainga - bench
Maybe Digby starting is his hand is OK

- Samo - meant to be a key forward - is now playing wing

He will play most of the game defending for Cooper in close and crash balling.

- history would indicate that there will be at least one new injury out of the Oct 1 game

and a replacement is 48 hours away

No seven back-up, three hookers and three halfbacks, a heap of injuries and now we play Russia needing to win with a bonus point. And we put out a team like this! If you had written it in a novel the publisher would have trashed it on the grounds that it stretched credulity beyond breaking.

I don't know. Harry Potter was unrealistic, a ginger kid with 2 friends!

Been in the backs for one day and he's already throwing no-look passes out of the back of his hand..
