How did the 15A's go?

Won 7-0 but game stopped just after half time due to an Auggies injury.
We ran into a hurricane in the 1st half with an 8-1 penalty count against.
Had wind in 2nd half then the game was stopped.
Can't see why Joeys only won by 10, and we had 2 players back, but still 3 forwards out.

How did Brook 15as go?

They won, but ugly.

Didn't get the chance to give a full report but all in all a mixed bag by the Aloys boys. Joeys 3rds impressed definitely were shredding up in broken play and turnovers (got an intercept try I think). Aloys dominant throughout mostly however defence inside the 22 was very good with some superb breakdown work from the 2,7 and 8 especially. I think they definitely try to spread the ball too fast which makes them unable to suck defenders in but thats mostly due to the fullbacks insistence of throwing a cutout pass whenever possible. If they get smarter on attack and work harder off the ball think they could surprise a lot of teams

Stannies score at the death to take it 17-15. Knox should have won in my mind but some sloppy play and poor ball security really cost them.

And while I think of it, my standouts for Knox were Tom Cameron (13, where I like him more than 15 where he was last week), Sam Rechner (12), Tom Leigh (11 - really got involved) and Kye Haslam (2). The forward pack were solid, and probably need to run around the edges of the ruck and build phase possession a bit more than they do. The halves struggled a bit today, but as per my standouts the outside backs did some good work. They showed glimpses of the magic hands that were on display at times last week, but as is always the way when you throw 50-50 passes, the ones that work are great but the ones that don't are momentum cripplers...

pretty impressed by Waverley's game today

while St Augustines lost a winger early to a nasty facial cut ... Waverley also lost their Captain Molloy early too

Auggies have a great team ... I reckon they will win ISA .....but no Hopoate .. maybe he finished last year?

My picks would be their tall 10 (reminded me of Waverley's Ben O'Donnell), their fearsome 6 (who wanted to go once were warriors on the crowd) and their big hard-running 13 ... who I initially thought to be Hopoate

either way I think Waverley passed the litmus test with flying colours ... final score not reflective IMHO

if they can knock off $cots ... next week ... that would be comparable to the 2017 team beating Joeys

who questioned the 13 Milford?! Wombat

and Murphy , Moretti ... both freakishly good ... Moretti is nothing short of spectacular in attack and defence

I won't name names ... but the coaches have one problem ... one back that can't tackle ... he is great in attack, but can the team carry him?

I like Corey Kallis .. whether a promotion & shuffle might work ... however what do I know

oh well maybe I am being too harsh ... and the coaches can improve that defensive "kink" in the armour

PS Is that Hutch's Dad ... the Salty one ... amongst the coaches? Not-happy-jan! I gather he used to teach at Waverley ...northern beaches hasn't chilled him

SDW,

I agree the Waves beat a very talented Auggies team today, and the score, thanks to 2 last minute Auggy tries, did not reflect the difference. The Waves were way better drilled.
Moretti could be playing 1st colts, words fail me, he is a pleasure to watch, not play against!

The Waves no.22 today Lathan Hutchinson-Walters was up there with Moretti, super talent and in year 11.

They play Scots next week, and some think the Waves will get a hiding, can't see it.

Broadly agree. Augustines have some serious size but their discipline let them down today. The 6, 15 and 10 (captain who got a yellow card) let the occasion get to them. Which was a shame as the 10 is clearly a very good player. Anyway, definitely a game of two halves. very even at half time but the respective half time talks had different effects. Augustines seemed to play the same 'give it to the big guys' game in both halves whereas Waverley's urgency and cohesion picked up a gear after half time and it threatened to be a blow out until three late tries from Augustines in the last 10 minutes.

I'd agree with Sonny Dill re the most impressive players from both sides. Good attack but weak defence from both teams in the first half but in the second Waverley kicked it up a notch and Augustines couldn't match it. Some talented players from the northern beaches but their two yellows and lots of penalties (largely repeated offside & later backcaht) hurt them. Waverley's captain went off after 15 minutes for concussion which threw them for a while but they seemed to cope much better in the second half.

I'm sure St Augustines will do well in the ISA but as we saw today, once you stop the big boppas from punching holes in your defence, they're vulnerable. They leaked tries surprisingly easily close to their line. As for Waverley, they can never be the same as last year but they're pretty resilient, still have some flair and their forwards while small have a lot of grunt. They may not win the CAS this year but if any other school wants to win it you'll have to beat Waverley first. And their depth is better than first thought. It will be an interesting year.

Great to see the Stannies 1XV get a win today over Knox to return serve for their loss at Bathurst earlier in the year. Tough grinding forward battle again, the same as the performance last week against Scots 1XV.

I think Kinross 1s would've given knox and any other CAS team a run for their money today. Got enough grunt up front to be extremely dangerous. looking forward to their match ups against legitimate oppositions.

Stannies are a good team - i would not be surprised if they knock off Auggies and take the ISA this year.

Hi all. I am after a writer for this weekends (19th May) Knox v Kings game at Kings. Is there anyone who could provide even a brief report? Please message me if you can.

Certainly would be interesting I know Stannies 2nds had a hard fought win against Knox 2nds some weeks ago. Kinross 1st XV always play with a lot of passion and have some very handy footballers, just not sure it is a great guide for future results when a 1st XV side plays a 2nd XV side.
