I'm a Powell fan and don't think much of Phipps but Phipps was impressive tonight and Powell was a bit ordinary for my liking. Bad passes and had an opportunity to clear the ball ahead of an Irish counter ruck turn over

Samu was very very good tonight and I truly think he is the best 8 in the squad. You put your best 7 at 7, your best 8 at 8 and your second best 7 on the bench.

Looks like it might be a moot point for a while, if Hooper really has a hamstring injury, and is out of the equation. Will probably make some people happy, sadly (not suggesting you, btw).
Samu looks good. Tui looks good.

Folau lucky not be carded in the first 3 seconds of the game for the same thing. That would've been a record I think.

Or rational. Yes, because he has kicked at over 80%. It's as simple as that. Any other argument is a nonsense.

No it isn’t, it just doesn’t suit your view. Foley is fast running out of credit for performances that happened 2-3 seasons ago. Makes too many errors with hand and foot. That we were forensically examining footage to see if a miniscual touch by an Irishman explained why he passed the ball 2 yards behind his outside support sums up the severity of the problem. He needs to go to the European retirement lounge of his choice and fill his boots.

Foley is a massive weak link in an otherwise solid backline. His popgun clearing kick puts us under immediate pressure and he makes too many errors. We won't win big series with him in the team. I'll say it again, I don't have a replacement in mind, but the sooner we part ways with him the closer we will be to finding a long term answer.

Ha ha! Doesn't suit my view? You asked me if I was happy with his kicking, I said I was. It's a fucking statistic, not a fairytale number like you posited. You clearly have a mindset against anything he does, so it's pointless discussing anything else with you. Have a good night.

I don't think that game would have suffered if there was no TMO tonight. The elbow on Phipps wasn't great but it's a contact sport. Folau's card wasn't there and Coleman's penalty for a shoulder after Ireland already had a penalty was a waste of time.

I thought he was a bit ordinary and we really missed Hoopers speed when he went off. Samu is too upright in contact and he gave away a few silly penalties at the breakdown.
He is a good replacement for Hooper or Pocock but we should not have all 3 in the 23.

I am actually over players being picked independent of performance. You can quote all the stats you like, he is not getting the job done when it matters. If he was the 1 stat that matters, wins and losses would not be as poor as it is. For both teams he plays for. His job comes with a lot of consequence , he isn’t aiming up. Apologising for that is bullshit.

Who are Cheika's 2nd choice 10s?
Beale.
Hodge.
Who else is there, outside of Cheika's radar?
Sam Lane
Quade
Stewart

None of whom ever get 1 minute at 10 in test matches (from set pieces anyway)
