Hello SM, any scores from the New A teams that could brighten up our supporters. As to the firsts, they took two steps forwards last week against Joeys, this week two steps backwards. New inconsistent this year. Many thanks if you can.

1st XV result disappointing after last week's titanic match against Joeys. They're capable of some really good rugby; for example when the ball goes through the hands in the backline, they look like premiership contenders. However, this is unfortunately a rare occurrence as their play is punctuated by errors in the forwards and in the backs. Today they added some aimless kicking to the equation. Riverview did the simple things well and at speed - a really great team effort from them and the score was an accurate reflection of the game. I was really impressed by their short passing game and ball skills. Goal kicking remains a concern for Newington - clearly the poor lad's confidence is shot after last week's game whereas the Riverview kicker never looked like missing

2nds was very even, with the game pretty much going try for try for most of the game. Riverview again deserved winners.

15A a loss, but better than last week.

16A a very close loss, with a number of the boys playing 1sts/2nds

14s again very impressive and the depth is much better than other age groups.

The New side are obviously very strong but I heard the rest of the u14s competition was noticeably weak. Has anyone else seen them and thought they were notably below the usual standard?

It seems, that New's strongest age group coincides with the weakest age group at a number of other schools. Joeys and Shore the other strong teams and IIRC, it's quite a strong age group at Shore - which should make for a great last round of matches in the age group.

Many thanks Quick Hands, 14s are impressive with their depth, I trust your young fellow is enjoying his Rugby in this strong age group.

Yes, I believe Kings and View are struggling in this age division. Scots are improving and can be expected to be a force in the coming years. In Shore, Newington have a real opponent as with Joeys, despite some Joeys supporters claiming its the weakest age group at the school. To me that likes saying a weak All Black Side.

Reaching out here.

Can anyone here please confirm (or most especially if not!) that the Kings 1’s back three that took to the field yesterday at Joeys, were as per those named in the printed Program. (Just for Match Reporting purposes.)

11 Joseph Sua'ali'i
14 Jordan Williams
15 Johnny Connolly

Thanks in advance to any who know.

The week before Sua'ali'i was wearing black head gear and Connolly white head gear. If the fullback had black head gear then it would have been Sua'ali'i.

Connolly was out. Kings may have had 2-3 out yesterday. They were certainly depleted when 6 went off injured. I thought they missed him and that’s when Joeys forwards started to match up. It looked like a bad ankle injury and he could be out a while.

It’s unlikely that Kings can beat Scots but it’s sport and strange things can happen. They would need all their best players to have a chance. Also, Joeys will have a hard battle against View at View in the last round. Joeys besting New by 1 point was important otherwise they were facing 5th spot for what is a good side and a preseason favourite. There’s not much between teams 2nd to 5th for mine.

As good as some of the other backs are it will be very tough for King's without Connolly, he can turn a match on its head by himself.
