Reds 2019

Skelton always missing in big games, he has zero ticker, why the hell would we want him? He's a sky blue discard.

He is not in the same league as HH, Rodda and Blythe and these blokes are only starting their careers & will get better.

Let’s pump eh brakes on comments like Skelton not being in same league as HH/Blythe.

Both young promising prospects, but neither guy has represented their country in the test arena.

As critical as we’ve all been of Cheika selection policy, once upon a time Skelton absolutely deserves his jersey and by all accounts the time abroad has done his game wonders by finally getting into shape.

Let's agree to disagree, he was extremely fortunate his gaffer from NSW was parachuted into the top job. He is the very definition of journeyman. Performing in England premier league is hardly an audition for test football.

As I said I'd back either of HH or Blythe to perform better than him any day of the week. Both will earn far more test caps than Skelton.

He played his first four test matches under McKenzie.

He's also a markedly improved player than he was when he left Australia. I think you'd struggle to find anyone who has watched him play much who would disagree with that.

This is a weird argument anyway. You seem to be judging Skelton solely on his play from 2016 and earlier before he left Australia.

Give me a break. Skelton is twice the player HH or Blythe is at there current point in career.

Skelton - 31 - Saracens - 64 Waratahs - 18 Australian
Blythe - 1 Reds
Hockings - 11 Reds

Lets not forget his won a title as well pretty sure Blythe hasn't even won a super match not in the realm of the same class.

But back to the point, the Reds shouldn't be chasing him, as his not needed there with Rodda, LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto), HH, and Blythe. Spend your money on a 5/8 a new 12 and some strike power out wide.

Skelton has won a Super Rugby title, UK Premiership Final, European Champions Cup Final, and has a chance to win a second UK Premiership title this weekend.

It's getting to be a fairly impressive CV.

I think you’re under valuing the Premiership. It’s 3 times the quality it used to be, and although I believe the Crusaders are the worlds best domestic team, the rest of the competition is as good and in some cases better than what Super Rugby has available these days. The world rankings with the NH teams shows how much better they are these days.

We don't need locks. If we're looking at a list of positions needed, itd go:
Flyhalf (Bryce isnt the long term answer)
Inside Centre (If Samu Leaves)
Number 8 (We're losing Higgers, Timu, unless they're happy with ASY (Angus Scott-Young) transitioning. Me personally id like to see Wilson here)
Outside backs (Injuries really hurt us this season, lack of quality depth a problem)

Outside of that, perhaps only looking at really good players, but would you rather Skelton come in and play and have one of Blyth/Hockings out of the 23 or have both involved.

And is at the end of his journeyman career playing in a pretty average competition. As I said I'd pick these young kids ahead of him today and be supremely confident they would perform at a better level.

NRC will be interesting this year. I'd be picking some boys in QPR over some of the contracted reds players by far. Some great prospects for the reds have been turning up week in and week out.

Yes he is building an impressive CV and I respect him for it.

I’ll also take HH and Blyth over him tenfold and another twice on Sundays. I don’t like Thorn much either but I’ll take his locks over any, from anywhere, in the world.

We don’t need locks in Qld, we are OK in that department. In the silly pump prime for Big Will, just leave Qld out of the discussion.

We are quite happy to meet him on the paddock.

Interested to know who, specifically.

Not having a dig at you. I don’t get to see QPR & would like to know the prospects out there, particularly at 11 & 12.

Really? I mean, I think that Rodda, LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto), Blyth + Hockings are an exciting quartet, but I wouldn't pick them over Eztebeth/Whitelock/Retallick/Ryan/Itoje...

I wasn't suggesting the Reds should sign him so certainly this continuing conversation doesn't belong here. The Reds are clearly well stocked at lock. It would be a silly area for the Reds to spend money on.

I have no idea why people are still bashing Thorn. I absolutely love what is happening here.

Keep in mind our best player, and I am not mincing words here, was missing all season.

I have not seen a back prospect in Australia like Jordy in recent memory.

You have to look at value for $ and where we are going. I rate Etzebeth the best lock in the world and personally also love Lood, but I don’t want either at the Reds in lieu of what we already have.

Is Sorovi injured or just out of favour? They had his face all over the promotion for the indigenous round and special indigenous jerseys, yet didn't pick him. The article steers well clear of his omission by not giving one mention to Malolua being included on the bench in his place (other than the list itself). Interesting.

Pretty sure he is just out of favour

Think it just boiled down to not having another aboriginal in the squad? Not a good look in this PC world to not have a indigenous person in your squad and having a white guy promoting the jersey
