Jack Howarth will be a force to be reckoned with this year, I believe he will be the most dominant 13 in the competition, they were thinking of getting him to play up and play Hasting deering colts for easts and then maybe even some minutes in intrust when his mal meninga comp finished but as its been cancelled he's been unable to. He is a threat to every other team

TSS's Jojo Fifita might have something to say about that. Fifita was easily the MOM in the title round last year and continually hosed BBC's midfield defense. That wasn't really on Howarth though. Yeah he is a hunter and can be a little too individualised when he tees off the line , but , you need a lot of stability and strong/stout capability inside- and in this regard BBC had nothing to offer last year- 12 really should be anchoring your backline defense. In the absence of that you had nothing from the backrow helping jam up the middle and then to top that off you also had nothing in behind the 2nd line / last line either at 15

Anyway .....Fifita was comfortably the best 13 in the Competition last year ( for mine )

Churchie's Laz Sword is one to watch too

Not sure what Nudgee might do but you'd think 18 year old Sione Tapuosi (spelling?) who was on the fringe of the squad the last 2 years will play at 13 or wing if he isn't at 13.

I expect Terrace will probably line David Vahiu up at 13 as well

Howarth is easily the most eye pleasing out of all of them, and truth , will probably be playing Origin within 2 to 3 years after leaving School and figures to have a 10 year+ NRL career. It's just that Rugby really isn't his game, and others are better as Rugby players. No diss though. He's just in the wrong game.

Oh your right I had forgotten about Fifita, I agree with you their will be some quality 13s to watch

You can add Larson Dale-Doyle from Churchie into the mix at 13. He was a bit lost at 12 last year and I think after a season of rugby he could well surprise a few teams this year.

Who would partner Howarth in the centres? From watching The Season last year, it appeared they had a year 11 rep centre out with an injury for the year in 2019?

Larson Double D. I can almost hear it now

So Hound, Lazlo Sword to 6 or 8 then ?

If this is the case I reckon it is a mistake. I watched him carve up in a couple of games last year at 13 and I wouldn't have messed with that . It is sort of like his Brother though, Churchie was a bit undecided about where he should play

The young man is Sebastian Mahn from Victoria > TGS must have seen him at National under 16 Carnival last year-kid can play.

Main Mahn ?

I think they have CQ’s Dane Shadlow (10/15) back and SA’s Bailey Skeets at 12

Wilson Cochrane at 9 returning too

Stacked in the forwards with Hamish Muller and Tane Pardoe returning and a stack of talented young 17 year olds led by Charlie Wigan

Beware the Mountain Men.

The competition is a lot more even this year.

Sorry I haven't heard anything about Lazlo.

I think both Churchie and Nudgee have D teams in most age groups. Can't imagine BGS or BSHS having much beyond A or B. And BBC have had finishing numbers in the younger years even prior to this year. Those lower teams just could be Terrace ACGS and NC playing each other every week

So whats new

I suspect it will be Nudgee, Churchie or TSS to win this year due to the way the modified season is set up. BBC dropped the ball last year when they had their best ever team. I haven't written them off altogether, and depending on what happens in the earlier rounds, the clash at Miskin v Nudgee could be an interesting one, or even a Premiership decider, but it will be even more difficult for them than last season due to the modified draw.

Just in the same vain how do more recent “stars” from other schools hold up against those that have gone through in the last 10 years?

If you look at Nudgee for example how does a guy like Harry Vella hold up in a NC team of the decade against Gav Luka and Phrancis ? Even though things haven’t really kicked on yet for Reece Hewat is he still there ? Is there room in the team for a no to low star like Hayden Moseley at 7 ( 2017 ) You’d think that Ethan Bullemor would have the 6 spot locked down , and Campbell Magnay would have the 13 or 14 locked down

With TSS, do you have Dylan Riley in your backline and Jojo Fifita ? Loeliso, Parata or both ? Does Hamish Roberts get a wing spot ? Is there a spot for Lachie Vine in the pack at 7 ?

The Churchie and Terrace situation is super interesting as well.

With Churchie is there room for Harley Fox in the back row when you have Jake Schatz, ASY (Angus Scott-Young) , Wright and Gunn to consider ?

With Terrace who fills in and around Lucas , Wilson and Josh Nasser ? You’d think Roche would have the 7 spot but Connor Moroney was an Australian Schools 7 in 2014 as well. I’m supposing Will Eadie has a wing and Alex Horan is in your midfield as well and you’d probably make a fair case for Monty Ioane ( 2012 ) on the other wing - but is there room for a Vahiu in your back line ?
