Is George Francis the shute shield guy who came up to play NRC - Qld country last season?

Surely if your coming up to play NRC your coming up with some type of QRU financing?

I believe Van Nek might be off to the rebels. I saw something on BBC rugby supporters IG page wishing him well on his MOM performance then the hashtag #melbournerebels after the post

FFS. Rhys Van Nek was clearly the best hooker on the field yesterday. I’ve never really paid too much attention to him but this year he is the best hooker we have behind BPA and Mafi. Maybe the edge on Mafi.
Georgie Francis needs a gig in QLD too. Is the broadcast deal done yet so we know who we’ve got in 2021?

Asiata also moved from hooker to prop as the first front row substation most of the year I believe. First cab off the rank for the front row subs was the young reserve hooker. So much depth in the forwards there.

Asiati was prop at Churchie and Aus U20. Was with Perese, ASY (Angus Scott-Young), Liam Wright and Mack Mason. Signed for Toronto in Major League rugby for 2020

Man what happened to Perese, so much talent and he wasted it to go play NRL b grade.

Edit: actually signed with Bayonne. Don't think he's played.

Started the season very well for Bayonne but suffered an injury that ruled him out for over a month

Rod Sieb off to the Brumbies as an assistant coach and Jason Gilmore signed on again with the Tahs.

Where does this leave the Academies on a state and national level?

What goes around, comes around.
As coaching staff are looking for better career opportunities elsewhere, so younger staff get their opportunities to fill the vacancies, and bring new ideas & methods with them.

Yeh I don't think he's really missed - apparently he was already going off the rails when with the Reds. Comes from a fairly severe upbringing from what I've heard. I think he realized his habits wouldn't sit well under Thorny and wanted out fast.

To be honest the bloke is lucky to be playing rugby at all - judge granted him serious leniency to be allowed into France, but I guess the alternative to him going would be stay in Australia without a playing career and likely end up in more trouble.

Yep agree .

Was more asking if there has been any movement on this ?

The state academies would normally be back in preseason by the end of November and the first national camp is normally called early in the new year .

Unlikely to be a full scale U20 RWC next year , but hopefully games against NZ, Fiji and Japan might still be a chance .

The U20 Oceania tournament has previously been held at Bond around Easter .

Realise this probably not the correct thread , but ultimately effects the Reds 2021 if there is no Academy action happening.
