I’ve thought about it, and World Rugby needs to reassess the red card rule. I understand the requirement to punish individuals for foul or dangerous play, however I think they can still achieve that without ruining the competition of the game or the spectacle for the fans.

I agree with a proposal suggested on here; that a Red Card would still mean the offending player is sent from the pitch for the entire game, however after 10 mins the offending team would be allowed to bring a replacement player on in his place.

I must admit I used to be a bit against that, but tend to think it a good way to go, and only because now we seem to be aiming game at TV audience etc.

Watching the highlights again last night, unless I am mistaken, when we were down to 13 men, NZ scored nothing and we scored 3. Impressive stuff.

I'd prefer it to be 20mins for a red before being replaced but I'd also suggest that the on field ref gives a different coloured card meaning 10mins min and the TMO will check it during that period and announce that it is converted to a red or just stays a yellow rather than stop the game for ages.

They need to look at this card and suspension system. He was given a red and all agree that this was the correct call as per the current laws and directives. But a suspension through to Feb next year? That’s crazy! There was no ill intent in either of the red card tackles. They were lazy and not accurate enough but they were not intentionally high. Ofa is contesting his. Wonder what he will get?
The red should have been enough. If only one side had received a red card that would most likely have been the game.
