NSW CAS Rugby 2021

Barker play Oakhill this weekend. Any other trial games on involving CAS schools? I think Barker is paired with Oaakhill when they take on the stronger GPS sides like Joeys. So the winner of the Oakhill/Barker 1st XV match will play Joeys 1sts and the loser plays Joeys 2nds. It means the Joeys 9ths maybe playing Barker 4ths or 5ths so all the lads get games from all three schools. Good work by the sportsmasters from all 3 schools to sort out the logistical nightmare.

The Waves were due to play Riverview on Sat at View.

All age groups As and Bs, and 1sts and 2nds.
This has been called off for good reasons, ie lack of physical contact prior to this match eg internal trials.
Waves did have an internal match up last Sat in the torrential rain but View haven't as yet I believe.
So understandably it won't be on.

A shame as I tip View to win the GPS comp this year, and the Waves will hopefully be competitive.

Having easily disposed of Stannies (always a super strong Rugby school) and playing a serious trial again this Sat.
It's fair to say that Barker is out in front of the pack and deserves favouritism this year to win the CAS comp.

Good to hear from you WLF. I love the way you talk up the boys in Red. I suppose in their favour is this years game is played at Hornsby. I am sure it will be a close game as we have seen over the past few years. Barker takes on Knox at Knox on Gala day. That will be a huge game too as Knox always rise to that occasion. I think all CAS schools may struggle against the GPS sides this year.

Hi Rod, wonderful to hear from you again champ!
Trust you are well, and have your red eye on again.

Your boys in Red will be difficult again this year, suspect though your comment about all the CAS schools v the GPS schools is a difficult call ie it depends who plays who.
Barker and Knox do have some really tough GPS games v Joeys and View, which will put them in a good place, but unfortunately the Waves won't play either, nor do Cranbrook who I definitely rate, SO DOES BOLIVIA, and for very good reasons.

Apparently Newington have a lot of year 11 boys back, so are expected to be strong this year, Kings will also have a strong side, and the 2021 Shore side/age group has always been solid, so a lot of very interesting games lie ahead.

There should be no easy games for any school in the CAS v GPS games, and the same applies within each comp.
The depth of quality teams always been a hallmark of the GPS and CAS teams in this age group.

NOW, Let's hope sanity prevails, and these teams and boys have a full contingent of crowds allowed on the sideline, for what should be a most memorable year!

News out of QP is if the trail against Riverview was to take place this weekend that the double V were going to start a centre that could bear lay make the 3XV last season ! I hope this guy has gotten better in the off season. The forward pack seems on paper seems like the should be one of the best going around.

Thanks WLF. Whilst I think Brook can cause an upset or two, Waverley have the edge on paper to take it out this year. Cranbrook needs some luck with injuries (because pre season hasn't gone well).
Regardless, watching some schoolboy footie will be a nice change from watching the inconceivably woeful Waratah's.

Fingers crossed injuries play little part in any school for obvious reasons.
We would all much prefer to see the best line ups play each other.
I think some posters north of that bridge keep forgetting Brook, I recon your first win will be in the 1st CAS game!

I also thought you were smarter than watching the Tahs after the many decades of success!

Barker 35-5 victors over Oakhill. New Barker No. 10 looks the goods and has lovely boot - kicking 5/5.

Wow Chilli, that's a great result against a solid rugby school.
This new Barker no 10 sounds sounds pretty special, what's his background and is he in year 11 or 12?

I think the game v Joeys will be a cracker!

I was not at the game but I was told Barker won the 1sts, 2nds and 16As. Oakhill though were much more succesful in the younger age groups.

Year 11 I believe, although he doesn't look like it. Mature looking kid - both appearance & the way he plays. Don't know much about where he came from, but a good pick up by Barker.

Gun player who has led the Penrith RSL Union Club from about U/11's till now. Fairfield Pats league as well as Penrith Harold Matts until last Saturday. Barker bought themselves a good one there. Nice kid and super talent.

He was good and has a great boot, Barker defence was excellent with Oakhill having 75% of the possession in the 1st half and only managing 5 points. Barker looked good when they got the ball but everyone was a bit rusty. Oakhill was very in your face in defence and the Barker half got caught a few times. Shame we don't play St Augustine's as they seem to be the best of the ISA sides.

It can't be too far away when the CAS, GPS and ISA comps merge, tradition is a great thing but times are changing as seen with a female half back in the Barker 14a's. A throw back to when Alyssa Healy was selected at the age of 16 in late 2006 as wicket-keeper for Barker College First XI

Don't get to ahead of yourself i have inside information that Oakhill where missing all there Harold Matthews players and Sg ball players aswell. So i strongly believe that it would of been a different result out of that game if the HM and Sg players were to play.
