NSW CAS Rugby 2021

aussiefooty

Bob McCowan (2)
DETAILS:
Thursday, June 10 @ Knox Grammar
3:15pm - GPS Blue v CJRU U18
4:30pm - GPS White v SJRU U18
5:45pm – CAS 2ndXV v GPS 2ndXV
7.00pm – CAS 1stXV v GPS 1stXV

Funny how GPS have 4 teams and CAS only have 2 when Barker, Knox and Waverly (possibly Cranbrook) can beat a majority of the GPS sides as seen in the trial games.

Happy to hear your thoughts lads

How are you picking Wood from Aloys, over the likes of Dimovitch and Sagala both who made their 1st Xv debut in year 10 and go to the top 2 schools in this years CAS competition. These two are key factors to both attack and defence for Waverley and Barker so in IMO the selectors will have a tough choice between Dimovitch ans Sagala

What players are injured and not available for the 10 June games?

He is probably picking Wood because he;

1. Is the best 13 in CAS
2. Also made his first XV debut in year 10
3. Made the CAS First XV team in 2020 as a year 11.

Watch one game of this kid and you will agree.

Weird, it says Barker won 54-42. You'd never know from watching this.

And, look, fantastic running from Yazdani. Really good. But I hate, hate kids who do silly try celebrations before putting the ball down. It's disrespectful, unsporting and just plain dumb. Put the thing down and then carry on like a goose, if you have to.

Its a Barker highlights video not a game recap, same as every other team

The celebrations are great until the one time they stuff it up then they just want to crawl into a hole as they have made an idiot of themsleves

Agree on all points and having seen him play all games this year to date can't see Wood not being #13

I will use as logical an argument as possible, a la Snort, in relation to the 1st CAS team.

Not sure Colonel and Rucklover what teams you have seen Aloys play this year, but given the Aloys preseason sounds like no very strong teams. I confess I have not seen Aloys this year, but did last year, and as we all know, it is very difficult to shine in a weakish team.

Dimovitch, has much more of a proven history behind him than any other centre in this age group. Played a number of 1sts games in year 10 2019, played in all the Waves 1sts games last year 2020, was also chosen in the 16s CAS team, as a starting centre, not just a squad member, in 2019. A tremendous player, great defense and brilliant in attack.
CANNOT see anyone playing #13 in the CAS 1sts other than him.
BTW, the #13 in last years CAS no 1 team was Jordan Swan, Waves!

Chilli Rugby has no one nominated for the 6 position in the 1sts, not sure why. If King and Ned SS play, they will fill both 6 and 8, absolutely no doubt. If Ned SS is out, which I hope not, then King will be 8, but they both could play either position. No 6 and 7 could be a number of boys, but politics does play a part, and always has, so a school that is under represented may well fill it, but given the large talent pool, whoever this player is, they will be more than capable. I recon Liam Sartena (C) , Alex Elder (W), both Barker flanker boys or Ethan Halakatoua (W) would all fill no 6 and 7 comfortably, if both spots were available.

My last observation is why does the CAS play the GPS on June 10, just 5 days after a CAS and GPS comp game on Sat June 5? Clearly there can only be 1 maybe just 2 training sessions before the game, which makes me think the NSW teams are basically already picked, ridiculous IMO.

I also don't understand why the GPS, who have 6 schools in their AAGPS comp, same as the CAS, feel as though they need to pick 4 Rep teams. I feel sorry for the 2 boys in every team who miss out, I shouldn't say it but I will, sounds like molly coddling to me, by the AAGPS, so almost everyone gets a rep jersey. However, if there is a solid reason I am more than happy to be corrected.

Rod, as you well know, it's not quite as easy as that!
If your team has no ball, is constantly going backwards, good luck shinning.

Let's see when they all play against the Waves!

Strongly believe the likes of Nick Quinn really out played the Knox fullback Tucker and is in for a shot Wood is average IMO and i clear can not see anyone from Alyos getting picked

Heard Hayman is explosive and is really looking strong for a CAS spot this year

Can confirm... Extremely talented in the set piece, particularly lineouts. Just like his brother has the potential to do anything, and mind you he is only a Year 11 boy.

CASGURU, was wondering if you had any inputs on what the CAS team would be looking like this year?

I'm not quiet sure if you have seen any Aloysius matches, but they outplayed the Scots and St Patricks backline easily... The centre pairing is on fire at the moment, and last weeks score clearly doesn't reflect it. This weekend Wood has a great chance to outplay his opposite number as does Brutan (12).
