TRC2021 - Wallabies v Boks @ Suncorp 18/09

Tupou said a few weeks for BPA.
Also so cute in that interview that Kaitu’u, who was taught Tongan by his parents, helped Tupou heaps when he first arrived in Aus with the language barrier.
For the life of me I cannot see why they released Uelese. He would be perfect against the Boks in particular. I guess that means FF (Folau Fainga'a) gets a reprieve? Hopefully Kaitu’u starts.

Wallabies the BIG favourates. We will have to take this loss on the chin and move on. That's the only way our coach will maybe change our kicking game plan. They haven't figure it out that we cant play like this against the Wallabies and All Blacks.

I thought he was pretty good against France and in all of his tests last year. He is the most skilled back rower we have in link play, maybe with the exception of Hooper who seems to get better and better in this respect. I am sure that we will see him against Argentina and at some point on the EOYT. Great player with a big future.
Wilson is all that and more, but just needs to perfect how he finishes his plays. Always in the right place and linking to the plays because he reads the game very well for a young bloke. His emotional game will improve with experience, where he doesn’t panic with ball in hand. Too often he gives away penalties after doing all the great work in breaking the defence.

Time for some pointless imaginary Team predictions! (with a sprinkle of personal choice > likely reality)

1. Slipper 2. Kaituu 3. Tupou
4. Rodda 5. Phillip
6. Swinton 8. Valetini 7. Hoops
9. White 10. Quade 11. Koroibete 12. Kerevi 13. Ikitau 14. Kellaway 15. Hodge
16. Fainga'a 17. Bell 18. Holmes 19. Swain 20. Samu 21. Mcdermott 22. JOC (James O'Connor) 23. Petaia

* Only swain > leota because he mayyy (?) add more to maul defence?
* I really don't think they will put JOC (James O'Connor) into a starting 15 jersey after a bit over a week with the team, after such a significant layoff, after not playing 15 for aaggeess.
* Front row could easily do Bell starting and Sio/Slipper bench because Rennie absolutely name dropped Slipper as a potentially covering THP, hence, being benched for a rest.

I'd swap Tate & White but otherwise that's pretty much perfect

I'm pretty sure the Springboks are still favourites mate. I have noticed this push to make the Bok the underdogs though. Feeding into that 'us against the world' siege mentality Rassie has fostered?

I’d guess that Banks will retain his spot as he is pretty good in the air and we know what’s coming. Hope to see JOC (James O'Connor) on the bench and maybe he gets a run there late in the game.

Hmm. Don't like the bok selections:
1. Orie at lock? I guess with De Jager on concussion protocol they had no choice.
2. Same bench - three short loosies and no big bruiser. / extra lineout option. Should have brought JL du Preez onto bench
3. No high % kicker on the bench.

Complete lack of adventure. So let's say we lose again then do we start experimenting against the All Blacks? We are painting ourselves into a corner with the same game plan and same selections.

Worried that this is the start of what could be a slippery slope,

Kellaway is 25. He only looks young compared to old farts like us ;)

As for finding his feet? Four tries in four starts looks like he's doing alright. He's defensively sound and his overseas time brought him on in leaps and bounds IMHO.
IIRC, an article about Kellaway some months ago referred to his increased personal and rugby maturity following his OS stint.
Looks on the money to me.

I am not much into the rankings, not long ago we were 6th. Apart from our loss last week, our record at Suncorp looks dire. In fact the Wallabies haven't lost there for ages. Our boring gameplan won't change. It work against England , not Wallabies.
