I'm presuming that while you are not quoting me it is in response to my post? Can't recall the lat time I did the "too many tags thing". Though perhaps it has been there at some stage. I completely support the WB coaching team making their calls and I've no concern if there is a connection with style now, and where the forwards coach was last coaching. I've said it before. That has nothing to do with this shit devolving to anti Red hype being distasteful. Which it is.

Dru, you are right on the money in saying that the WB coaching team should make their calls for whatever reasons suit their purposes, but I'm not sure I can agree with your claim that criticism is devolving into anti Red hype. Most of the vitriol atm seems to be directed at MacKellar and through him at the number of Brumbies now in and around the squad.
Some of the responses might have focused on Reds players as alternatives, but that's understandable because there was very little between the two teams and their playing rosters in 2020/21.
We really should be celebrating what appears to be a growing reservoir of test-ready players for the coaches to select from. In the forwards alone, apart from those now touring, we have the likes of Mafi, LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto), McReight, Wright, Wilson, Uru, HJH (Harry Johnson-Holmes), Uelese, Fa'amausili, Hosea, Tom Robertson (is he touring?), Kaitu'u, FLW (Fergus Lee-Warner), Koteka, and maybe more, in the mix. And others playing overseas.
Not a bad place to be at all.

With the selection of overseas-based players, the Wallabies now look like they almost have too much talent.
While much have been made of the gradual but sure Wallaby decline over the years, especially with the constant competition with NRL and Aussie Rules, perhaps the biggest determinant of a recent lack of success is the policy NOT to select the Skeltons, Arnolds, Beales, Coopers, McMahons, Kerevis, and so on. If they have always been available, given that many have grown their game overseas, how strong will the Wallabies be? I guess we will find out this autumn.
But there is always a flip side to everything, a benefit to every cost and vice versa. There is no way Australia would have kept these players, but the benefit of them leaving is it created a vacuum for a new crop of players to emerge.
The cost? The erosion of club support and the lack of quality in local Australian rugby. From an outsider perspective, the Aussie clubs have been shite, really. The effects of this are likely long-term. Has support dwindled, including the ability of rugby to attract new talent in Australia? Also, how is the development of new players affected, if they never played with some of the best that Australia have? Is this why some of the players developed better abroad?
A suddenly stacked Wallaby team in the short-term; does this compromise the Wallaby team in the long-term?

It’s very bizarre to see someone like Mehrts say that we need a proper international season, and lay blame at World Rugby’s feet.
The three players expressed that they wanted to return to the clubs, presumably because the club expressed so and they were worried about upsetting them.
Which, of course, makes sense. The players are paid a premium as their contracts were negotiated under the proviso that they wouldn’t be selected. They are paid more than their South Africa or Kiwi counterparts.
The Wallabies could’ve flexed their muscle and demanded access to the players, but why would they? While they are Rugby Australia and not Rugby Japan, I don’t know if Quade Cooper would be stoked with his next contract offer being half of what he’s currently on. Nor would he appreciate the club renegotiating his contract or paying it out early.
