No Hamish and his crew aren't wrong, its just that after 20 years of Super (world domination) rugby) they're fucking broke. :confused:

We’ve still got Super Rugby Pacific looking rocky on the back of NZ Govt reaction to Omicron (we have a thread for that too) and Aus govt not necessarily looking solid either. RA have been talking about contingency planning including season back-ending the TT matches.

It's inevitable that some fans will voice a preference for the contingency and it is a set of topics that fit this thread.

I do get the feed back though and discussions - such as those centred on the RA ditching a domestic, or the logic behind primacy of a Domestic comp, etc - should probably be carved out.

Disinterest in the Kiwi teams, especially in games predictably thumping the Aus teams, is likely to be an on-going theme through the year all the same.

The Wallabies will still be playing upto 15 Tests a year (and thats another issue), there will always be crossover games scheduled.

The big shock maybe in 10/15 years time when having a far bigger playing pool to select from due actual domestic growth.

So in other words they need Super to pay bills, which obviously means it's best for Aus rugby!!! And unfortunately all RUs have to have to run the comp that makes the most money, whether we like it or not (and usually because they make most because more people end up paying to watch it) Cheers for backing me up mate! But anyway, that's probably got nothing to do with 2022.

Yep I agree especially if the TT is at end like last year. It not a good way to run a comp, but guessing 'needs must' come into play

But getting back to the comp, who is feeling confident? Is it Reds and Brumbies for Aus part next year? How strong will Force be?
In NZ I still think it Crusaders or Blues, with someone like Chiefs being not too far away. I have a feeling that much will depend on which one The Clan (or maybe Canes) upset so making a difference in home finals etc!

Crusaders should walk it. Blues only won the TT element last year because of its strange formatting. When they actually played the Crusaders they had nothing on them.

Yep, I actually think the Blues maybe a bit stronger this year, I actually think they may have a bit more confidence,plus I believe Mounga may not play early part of season, Crusaders may be favourites (and I say maybe) but not overly convinced. I also a little suspicious that the Chiefs may go pretty well if Ioane performs at 10, they seem to have a few good players in pack with Cane, Retallic back to join the bloody good young un's in there. I still think Reds could cause an awful lot of problems if it a full comp was played as drawn.

The Aussie teams looked like shell shocked kids in the first weeks of Super Rugby TT. They didn’t seem used to the size of the opposition. As the season progressed we became more competitive. Super Rugby AU was good to watch, but if our aim is to build a stronger wallabies using mostly domestic players we need to play better opposition regularly. That’s just my opinion unfortunately Covid or one of its offspring might have a say in TT going forward.
