Campbell still has some work to do after watching Banks play last night. Let’s not get too cocky on who of our players are sitting where. We are in Round 4 with the NZ teams to come and showing good form.

Clearly RR, Jock has not previously been invited to the WB squad, not as a miss. He's been a long shot for ages. That said, in the first 3 rounds he is the form 15. 3 rounds without Hodge playing. Banks is my favourite WB 15, but he's had a good Super game? Compared to Jock's form? look 3/4 rounds is nothing. I would however love to see Jock given a chance to mount a campaign for that jersey.

Well last night confirmed to me Flook come of age as super rugby player.
Also thought Nasser had good game outside of the yellow card. Was never sure about his conversion from prop but looks like could be a master stroke. Potential to regular starting hooper next year if mafi leaves…?

I'm still no closer to understanding where Flook should play!
The speed he showed to chase down and successfully tackle that Drua player was absolutely unreal. I had no idea he was that quick and thought we may have struggled with him on the wing. I feel a lot more at ease with Flook on that wing than Flipio right now.

He's not got a strong case for the starting 15 once the wingers are back and Petaia is at FB. If we are are really presenting Jock as a Hegarty-style utility back he's going to need more time at 10 but he isn't ever going to displace JOC (James O'Connor), is he? Nor will he displace the centres. He's fighting for the bench if we are injury free. The drop ball issue is about 10 not 11/14. At the same time at 11/14 it is hard to see Jock overtaking a healthy in form Daugunu or Vunivalu. And Flook is also making his case.
Someone had to lose if we have decided to prioritise Petaia's flare and just need to find a slot for it. I suppose this story would be just as painful if he was chasing 13.
I did think we would miss Jock's organisation at the back, and while we were definitely messy on occasion, it wasn't because of that. The timing is terrible, Jock had really lifted his game at FB and was screaming promise.
At the end of the day, Thorne will do what Thorne will do.

Vunivalu’s case is a really interesting one. I think he has awesome potential, but his contract is up this year and, unless he is back really soon, I’m not sure he commands a starting spot if we get to only having 4-5 games left and him coming back from long term layoff. Then again, he could absolutely be our best winger. Flook & Campbell were both excellent again last night I thought, but neither have his athleticism.
Like you say, Thorn will do what he does and, so far, you’d have to say his instincts are pretty good.
Speaking of which, his decision to make changes, whilst it almost hurt us, is pretty understandable. In the end these guys got a bit of a lesson in composure and they did ultimately get the job done - albeit after making it much harder then it should have been. Probably worth noting too that one of the tries came directly from Campbell’s dropped ball and another came from Stewart and Paisami getting their spacing wrong - so none of the bench guys were directly responsible there.

Probably need to rewatch it , but I was a little miffed about Nasser’s yellow. The Dura player gets hit by TT and cannons into Nasser with little or no time to adjust his body position. To me he was more bracing for contact than making a no arms tackle.

I thought he was very unlucky - particularly in light of the taking the second Fijian players into account to reduce he number 3s card (although I don’t think that should have been a Red). Also, I note Hooperts left arm was around the player - but I am unsure if that makes a difference. I have a feeling you may still need to wrap with the arm you make shoulder contact with. Can any of the refs enlighten me?
All of that said I think both the refs and World Rugby are in a really hard spot here. We all want rugby to flow better, but there are already class actions underway regarding duty of care to players. World rugby have to take strict action and the refs, unfortunately for them, have you deliver the bullet.

Pretty sure he was training with the Tahs earlier in the pre-season?
Once he didn’t get picked up there, you’d imagine he thought it may have been game over as the Reds looked to have plenty of cover.
As a non-Uni supporter, he is definitely the player I thought stood out in that UQ side for a couple of seasons.

He is an unbelievable talent but I don't think I would have signed him for more than a year until he proves he is more reliable as far as fitness goes.
