There's no doubt that to mange player workload they had to make some changes... but I think they went a bit too Aus A on this one an it didn't work out.

And there were some decent individual performances in there... Swain redeemed himself once again, and Skelton looked really good - and not because he could run over players but he looked like a much smarter player.

But again, discipline is still a massive issue, inaccurate at the ruck, dumb decision making coupled with new combinations.

If Marky Mark (Nawaqanitawase) and Tom Wright were just a lot smarter they could be the best wing combination in world rugby.

I was talking with a friend of mine who is a League diehard supporter. We commented together about the Kangaroos vs Kiwis blockbuster on live. Then I suggested him to watch the Wallabies game against the Italians.

How can I explain him this disaster? A lost against a non-traditional rugby nation? And we were talk about how competitive are the Kiwis against Kangaroos being the Wallabies of International Rugby League.

Italy have been playing tests for almost a century. Have been in the 6Ns for more than 20 years where they’ve pulled off the odd big victory. They have a coaching group, led by Kieran Crowley that aren’t without pedigree and good solid experience in the game.
Their ability to move the ball and vary their attacking lines was too drawer. Their young fullback Capuozza knows how to hit the line and do it with pace.
you may want to tell your mate that giving away penalties that relieve any sort of pressure is a recipe for disaster whether it’s rugby or league…..

Wow, that was a pitiful performance by the Wallabies. The sheer quantity of idiotic decisions and poor discipline is shocking for an international team. Wright had two crazy passes. Everyone else: a near forward pass in the try zone, a late yellow for a hit, hitting a player without the ball, at least two F-level kicks by Tate and someone else, high tackles, no rucking, forward throw in the lineout on their 5 meter line TWICE. And why on Earth, with a penalty advantage, down by 6, in front of the posts, do you kick to the corner for a 2% chance at a try? Are these players plain stupid?

The Canadian women's rugby teams, who play in their spare time while holding a job, were more clinical than this team.

The only positive is that Will Skeleton looked great and Paisami played well on defense.

Wright, Hanigan, Fainga'a, Gordon, McRight, Lonergan, Lolesio, the backup 10: need to be fired to the moon. Kerr Barlow is eligible now no?

Part of me wonders if Rennie is sandbagging for some odd reason. Either he doesn't want the job, is saving players, is testing things out, or is trying to look like shit to loosen up rules on overseas selections. Or he/they are just shit. Probably the later.

I liked what Skelton brought in attack and defense. He does need to work on his footwork leading into our attacking rucks. He missed quite a few cleans today, whether it was due to a bad read of the lead up to the ruck or his footwork leading up to the ruck.

The rest of his game was great though. Probably his best in Gold against a physical team who were hellbent on hitting him.

Another big point. Australia is the only SH nation who plays 5 games in EOTY tour. It's a silly decision, RA only thinks in money but you lose prestige.

You don't have 2 top teams, you MUST pick Australia A for some games.

Australia - 5 games
New Zealand - 3 games
Argentina - 3 games
South Africa - 4 games

A couple posters trying to put a positive spin on things. Losing to Italy hurts this team and our game infinity more than possibly beating Ireland with our ‘best’ team.

There is no asterisk next to the L which says ‘Rennie made lots of changes’. It reads as a historic loss and that’s the way it will be remembered by the public.

Nah, I mentioned this earlier in the thread but this whole rotation policy means he can avoid the chopping block by claiming it was experimental etc.

Even though this squad and coaching group haven’t proved themself enough to be putting less than the best team out each week.
