I wouldnt chose Edmed to play 12 if we had options but I think he could cover at a stretch and handle the defence. I really like how Walton was going in a bad team at the time. I think the ITM season will have helped him also. He was good in some games I saw.

Prior to Walton's injury I thought he was the most complete text book 12 in the country, but Foteki demonstrated this year a running game I didn't think was in him, I can't see Edmed playing 12 without a lot of injuries
Beale was playing 12 most of the time in France recently, as I understand.

I have no idea how Beale fits, he be old now and his anticipation & zip were his core strengths - I haven't seen him enough lately to know if he still has them

A good mix in that squad. We've been missing experience for a while so with Jake, Hoops and Beale in the mix with some reasonably experience players like Hanigan, Holloway etc plus some cracking up and comers. The Herald discusses this today.
Yes Beale is a lot older but sometimes some wise heads can be important when making key decisions.

Hearing tahs have canceled the pre season games against the two Shute shield rep sides (north and south harbour). Pretty disappointing if true. Thought new regime were meant to repair relationships with club land.

DC is from club land so if true he must have a pretty good reason if true

I hope Beale and Nadolo raise their levels this season. They gonna try to make the squads of their national teams for next WC so I smell they gonna be the impact players that we need

I agree. Right now a lot of the Tahs have played a lot of footy with some going on the EYOT like Gleeson, Holloway, Gordon, Donaldson, Nawaquinatawse who they may not have thought earlier in the year would have done as much as they have and get their rest now. Others played Aus A games Holz, Sinclair, Edmed, Pietsch. Then they have Foketi, Perese, Swinton, Bell recovering from serious injuires. Hooper, Porecki in shorter term injury management.

Then there is the coordination of the Club 'Rep' teams. How well were they being put together? Some clubs are still filling spots and getting into preseason. Could it have been like the NRC where some guys just didn't want to play/didnt see the point? I would have liked this idea to be mentioned (and maybe it was) to the Shute Shield during the previous season to gauge interest and make the team a real thing. I like the Idea and think it worked well in QLD. Could imagine 1 or 2 weddings from Norths, Uni or Randwick could take these entire teams offline.

The Two Blues announced RWV is playing for them next season, so not sure what's happened with the Tahs. He used to play for Southern Districts too, all the way from juniors.

Tahs organised the teams and schedule in the first place. The teams were confirmed two months ago. As u say clearly tahs don’t won’t to go ahead. For whatever reason. Shame really. Last year they were happy to trial v hunter 2 blues and west harbour.
However u imagine this would be a fair step up from that. Thought it would be a good hit out for them.

With the players to return from injury it definitely feels like the build up for the season will be substantially different to usual. I'm not surprised they've trimmed the preseason fixtures, particularly one that involved more than 80 minutes or rugby.

It's definitely a shame but it would also be stupid to try and run the squad through fixtures they don't have the bodies for.

What are people's predictions on Max Jorgensen in 2023?

I'm predicting he'll make his Super Rugby debut during the season.
He may well. He is a freak, athletically - the poise and balance he has at pace and ability to change direction at speed is rare. Might see some bench appearances, but no issue if they choose to progress him more slowly - still very young.

Could see it depending on how he physically develops as well. Out and out fullback so would take an injury or resting to happen.

Personally, would love to see him play grade against grown men and then Aus U20s for the year but I get the excitement.

Seeing a lot of Nadolo on socials and rugby pages at the moment with him officially returning home over the last week.

Geez he’s a big boy. I reckon he will need a fair bit of extra conditioning and to strip down a bit if he’s expecting to play at Super Rugby level in the Aussie Feb/March heat.
