Maybe the bloke who runs a company with $45B in assets under management is a slightly better negotiator than a couple of ex-footy players in Blades and Stiles. McLellan also has the overall interests of all Australian Rugby at heart. I enjoy the fact he is getting his hands dirty and getting things done rather than wait for the States to bicker and f*ck it up.

Not sure if it's been reported on here yet but Pierre-Henry Broncan has been hired by Eddie Jones as I think the forwards coach. Or just forwards consultant, not quite sure.

Broncan was the coach of Castres Olympique up until a few weeks ago. He had only been there a couple years, head of recruitment first, where he brought across Tom Staniforth & Nick Champion de Crespigny to Castres. Fairly sure he was the one who got Rob Leota to come over first before Rob reneged with the promise of wearing Gold. Broncan became co-head coach in 2021, where he took them from relegation battlers to 7th. Then in 2022 he took them to the minor premiership, then the grand final, beating Toulouse on the way before losing to Montpellier. Which is quite impressive considering Castres have a budget like a 1/3 of the giant clubs. But this season they've been tanking, toiling in 11th so the CEO fired him last month and I guess Eddie has pounced.

Not sure what's happened this season but previously he's worked wonders with a rather anonymous forward pack. He managed to go 29 matches undefeated at home last season.

Seems like its an established relationship - at one stage after his England sacking Broncan announced Jones was set to join Castres as a consultant:
Broncan met Jones in Bath, and their friendship grew from there.

"I met him when I was in Bath, and he is someone who is really passionate about rugby," Broncan said.

"He arrived at my house on Thursday evening, and we watched Beziers-Mont-de-Marsan, impressed to see all these ProD2 matches televised. He likes it. It's as if it were two hunting fans talking together. He was in Lille for the allocation of training camps on Monday. He will leave at the end of the morning tomorrow, coffee at my place with another coach. Even the players were happy. It's Mr. Eddie Jones, quite simply."

Did we ask the Sua'ali'i funder if he felt like chipping in a few extra bucks to pay out the contract for 24? Would be nice to have him a year earlier, there's a loooooot of rugby (both union and league) between now and the first game in 2025.

Hopefully no catastrophic injuries.

I assume he’ll come on the ‘24 EOYT, might not get any game time. Maybe there’s an Aus A tour?

Exactly, i rate Sua'ali'i as a potential full-back option but i think Jorgo is clearly the smarter footballer and just is a natural full-back. Sua'ali'i played both wing, out-side center and a little bit of fullback throughout his schoolboy (2017 - 2019 - he did not play for kings in 2k20 and 2k21 due to his league contract) years and even made the Aus 2019 u18s schoolboy team as a winger at only 16 years of age.

Potential Waratahs backline if he joined the squad right now would look like this (imo)

13. Sua'ali'i
14. Marky Mark (Nawaqanitawase) (Nawaqanitawase)

That has to be the strongest backline in super rugby.

After this season I'm not sure is Donaldson is the best 10 at Super Rugby level. Gordon and Lynagh look smarter
