Noticed more bad injuries

In a small way I think Shore should thank Joeys for their win today. The View boys weren’t up for it today maybe after such a big game just 5 days ago.
that's no excuse 'they weren't up for it' don't bother playing if your not up for it

View were certainly not their best but the referee was certainly not either. If someone could explain to me how this mid air spear tackle at 66:21 was not a yellow and Riverview's send off at 61:10 was?? Does not make sense to me to call one but not the other.
No1 it wasn’t a spear tackle, No2 the yellow card was on the touch judges report of a shoulder charge which yes was harsh but wasn’t the refs call. All the ref bashing is frankly embarrassing.

the scores stand at the end of the day but disappointing when games and potentially seasons are won with poor decisions. I know refs are human but be fair. Kings v joeys refs very inconsistent- I have rewatched critical moments before commenting. The pass to the winger for his second try (very good game from him mind you) was forward. Tied the game and put them undefeated on top. Ref even questioned the touchie on it.

In the 1’s kings lost a prop for a high tackle but missed the high shot from the joeys 4 to the kings 10 under the post in the second half. There were also some kings players held back without the ball in the 1st half that were not picked up yet in the second penalties were awarded.

I will watch the other games taking note the comments about the ref. As I said it is just unfair if poor decisions decide the game not good rugby

By far Kings 7 won the game. Strong defence against the field from both sides.
I was close to the Kings 1 incident and it should not have been a yellow. 2 tacklers on 1 ball carrier and the ball carrier came off 2nd best. It didn't look good but nothing was illegal. It was simply a dominant tackle. I think the ref was going to just keep going but then the touchie got involved. Can someone who is familiar with the refs and touchie's let us know whether those involved yesterday in the 1s and 2s across all 3 grounds were 'regulars'. I don't recognise them and am wondering whether they were given a run because we had Thursday games? I dont think anyone should be blaming refs and touchies but maybe these thursday afternoon games are a mistake.

I am glad I don’t engage till tomorrow. Would be hard to stay focused while dodging so many toys being thrown from the cot.

Well done Shore. Joker is proud of you.
Nice. Honestly good to hear some honesty and humility at last after the last few pages. Not even holy water and footy boots on altars could save the catholics (small "c") this week. Reckon you were in Year 8 last time they were in this place on the table, at this time of the comp, compared to Shore. That's nigh on 44 years...

But one of the dominant tacklers was high and Kings had been warned repeatedly for the same issue in the lead up to the card. I thought the ref at HH was OK, not flawless but decent enough, mistakes both ways. We would do well to remember that the refs don’t have the benefit of TV review and simply need to call it as they see it.

the referee and touchies for the view vs shore game was frankly embarrassing. Seemed to give a lot of the 50/50 calls against the visitors…

word is that the touch referee who pulled the play and informed the match referee that a yellow card was necessary is actually a Shore parent/old boy. I think it’s laughable that an old boy of a school can officiate his school in any capacity, let alone in the 1sts.

I suppose shore have to employ these kinds of tactics to get a 3rd win in 8 years (the same amount view has had this GPS season alone

The saw (and was close to) the Kings 1 hit the attacker on the chest. There was also a Kings defender on the legs and this made the attacker spin from the big hit on the chest.......I will check the cluch replay today but I was close by. I was thinking that maybe the touchie was going for no arms in the tackle but he signalled high tackle. Happy to change my view if cluch says otherwise.

Yes there was a lot of no arms hits from Kings so perhaps that was part of the warnings.

Having watched it on cluch, you are right, it was high. Also, the ref was ok....in the 1s. The game felt fairly close watching it live but having now watched it on cluch, Kings never got out of first gear due to drop ball, sometimes unpressured drop ball. I think a fair summary is that Joeys were only just holding on because of Kings drop ball, and got close to stealing a victory. View also dropped a lot of ball in attack.

Thoughts on the Joeys v Kings game. Wasn’t much in it. Think Kings forwards shaded the set piece. Joeys backs in first half made a lot of unforced errors. More turnovers (forced and unforced) than in previous games. Do think the Thursday time slot has impacted all schools mental preparation.
Joeys played best when going route 1 and made good yardage here. Usually unraveled when they spun it wide.
Kings played a very wide game with a lot of half breaks which usually finished in a turnover from pushing the last past. When you have an Aust u/18 winger you rightfully want to get the ball in his hands but believe Kings guilty of going wide too early, or too often, as in previous games. Their forwards are excellent on the direct carry and didn’t see enough of it. Joeys lack that individual brilliance out the back but as the for and against demonstrates, can beat any of this years teams and just need a little more cohesion in the backs.
Thought ref had a fine game, didn’t observe the high shots commented on here but haven’t watched in detail. If I’m being pedantic the late tackle by Kings on the Joeys winger who kicked through (wasn’t going to score) could have been a yellow but that’s just because I don’t like that cynical shite (even though I’d have done the same in the day )
Bring on round 2.

looking at the sin bin tackle both touch judge and ref reacted but my first instinct was ‘good hit’? Didn’t think high or shoulder charge but they had a much better view

Just on this topic, the Kings v Joeys 2nds rematch will be a thriller after a forward pass led to 7 points in Joeys 17-14 win resulting in Kings first loss of the season.

Go to the cluch feed 1hr 50 sec.

I'll leave it at that.

Thoughts on the Sydney Juniors vs GPS game. Believe those boys playing colts will really give it to them.
I tend to agree. Hard to judge some Colts games/team standard as it can be very up and down week to week and the pace/fitness changes but these boys are getting use to playing older players and many training with Grade during the week which at times can be the same speed as school boy rugby but done by much bigger men.

Shore 9 has been outstanding this season and definitely deserving of a GPS team spot, however Hwi has been exceptional for a number of years and those talking about poor form aren't considering the weak Joeys team, a halfback cannot excel in his role with a lacklustre backline however Hwi has still been great this season and more than deserving of a GPS 1s and NSW team spot in my eyes.
Collector.

Keep in mind that a player like Joey Fowler could be available for Sydney U18 but he is signed to the Rebels. I wonder how many other ex school academy signed players out there aren’t playing? Imagine the team that could possibly take the field.

Anybody have an idea of the year breakdowns in the 1sts/2nds?

Always nice to know if you have a good crop coming through to merge with the U16s in the next year or so.

No reason he won't be eligible for the Aus U18s though?

He was training with the Aus U20s before they went to NZ so his name will be put forward and he would be the best 10 available for that team.

catholics (small "c") this week.
ok. Small lesson.

Catholic (capital C) is the informal name (proper noun) for those who follow the Roman Catholic faith

catholic (small c) is an adjective to describe the universality of a group. For example. The holy catholic Church. This is the universal church.

I hope this helps.

yes…,. I saw Joeys lose 6 games in 1979. Two years later they won the championship. The team Joeys has this year is very light on yr 12 talent. The 15A’s are winning well and have been described as the strongest cohort. Let’s check in again soon.
