Rugby Championship 2025: Wallabies v Argentina

Donaldson mentioned on Rugby heaven he's progressing very well with injury and should be able to integrate back with the squad next week
Glad he's recovering but tbh he feels a long way back in the pecking order right now and if they can put the Argies away even further back. He like Lonergan can sit and wait for a chance. He's lucky he offers utility value.

I think he'll walk back in ahead of Edmed, who Schmidt seems very reluctant to use. Donaldson's fullback coverage is probably a bit more important now with Wright out too, but I'm not sure he'll pass O'Connor and get back into the 23 straight away, maybe not until the EOYT.

A lot depends on what the long term planning looks like with O'Connor - it makes plenty of sense to use him right now, but realistically he probably needs to be phased out of the 23, unless they see him as a realistic option for the world cup.

I see his value because he can play 10 and 15 whereas Kellaway and any other players with experience in the 15 like JAS and Potter don't.

Donaldson may find a home permanently on the bench due to the cover. If Lynagh was out, JOC (James O'Connor) starts IMO and visa verse. 2027 looms though and JOC (James O'Connor) is taking on the undefeated opponent of Father Time.

I'm convinced if Edmed has a strong year for the Brumbies there will be many calling him the guy which will be quite funny as It's that wonderful system in Canberra more than anything.

Yeah agree - the Fiji test looked like a lot of fun. The Townsville thing was related to them bidding for, and winning some RWC games wasnt it?
I also think the First Nations / Pacific team should play an annual game in Aus vs Maori All Blacks as well. A game at AAMI in Melbourne or Newcastle surely would generate some revenue and increase content.
spread the love. Also then makes people in Sydney keen to get their tickets for the Tests at the massive stadiums we struggle to sell out.

Got the other venues like the Gold Coast and Western Sydney in Parramatta and eventually Penriths new stadium. Rugby can get some community points by playing a game v Tonga etc at Penrith and have it full to the brim. Also, any little thing to step on Buzz Rothfields gangrened toes warms me.

That's awesome. Regions love their sport and hopefully bodes well for the WC sales.

Rugby should take a Test every year outside the traditional homes. Townsville, Newcastle, Adelaide would be my main 3 and if Tassie ever gets the Stadium done throw them in as well. A Test that tours and gets people excited for the event.
RA has pretty much done that - usually with the Argentina games.

Over the last 10 years they've played in Perth, Canberra, Newcastle, Gold Coast, Parramatta, Townsville

To be honest the crowds are usually pretty poor for them

Christie, in the Roar, implying that LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) isn't getting a run because of perceived poor discipline - although there doesn't seem to be a Schmidt qquote to back that up

It's the right thing to do though. Crowds for Rugby tend to go with the Wallabies form as well which hadn't been too much to sell either. Trying to sell those games in Sydney and Brisbane can be a an even harder task when people pick the SA or NZ games as the big spend.

Dn if I buy that. Choose to believe it's more the pick n stick selections.
