The whole thing is a bloody joke. Seriously. Freaking nanny state BS. Citing and suspensions should be reserved for deliberate and clearly reckless hits that are nasty, not stuff like this with a tackled player dropping substantially into the tackle and impact clearly across the top of the chest. Having a teams progress through finals impacted significantly by a process that is random and inconsistent at best and corruptibly stacked by agendas and personalities at worst is ridiculous.

As soon as I saw the hit on Barnes, my first thought was that Quade was in trouble. I've seen nothing since to change my view.

I note with amusement that while most of us have been shaking our heads at the inconsistency of the judiciary process for some time now, it appears that some people only get agitated when it is one of their players on the receiving end of that process.

And then there is the truly laughable aspect of the argument: "We need him for the final next week!"

Anyhoo.

Moving on to another aspect of the tackle, I'm curious why no Tah players jumped to Berrick's defense and had a word (either verbal or physical) to Quade? What happened to flying the flag for your teammate?

Look how high QC (Quade Cooper) is, where else was he going to hit him?
Everyone dips before contact, that should be expected by the tackler.
I know what you would be saying if QC (Quade Cooper) was tackled in a deliberately/recklessly high tackle and had to sit out the finals due to concussion. You would be asking for the death penalty.

Is this a multiguess question?
A) Steve Walsh got to it early enough that he calmed the situation down with (it pains me to say) good officiating
B) There is no passion or comraderie at the tahs
C) The Tahs players realised it was Sookface and thought "here we go again"
D) All of the above

I think Foley actually tried a little upper cut to Quade. Check the vid.

So let me get this right, you're having a go at the Tahs for NOT running in and escalating things?

Quite right, that is human nature, look at the whinging we are seeing about how the Super Rugby points table is calculated. My beef is consistency and fairness. To be honest I don't think we fight for our rights hard enough. That is why I posted the Elstadt tackle earlier in the thread. A worse tackle not even yellow carded by a SA ref.

I have no problems with the officials being firm with dangerous tackles, and I consider a yellow card to be pretty firm, but I think it is incumbent on our officials to be a lot more consistent when the stakes are so high. I still haven't heard that Elstadt was cited.

Quite a few from both sides rushed in, Barnes and Cooper were underneath it all. Maybe the rest were just swapping Masterchef favourite recipes?
But seriously, Walsh handled it well, and didn't let it go feral.

If we are going to use the Elstadt tackle as a comparison, I would like to see it disected the same as QC (Quade Cooper)'s tackle.

From my initial viewing it seems that the arm slid up the body and onto his neck due to the direction and momentum of the tackled player.

He got a yellow card afterwards and was suspended for one match. Thanks fuck a Saffer did not reffed and dicided on this one. When something went wrong its always a Saffer, goodness crazy, get a life.

PB I have seen nothing of this, are you sure you aren't thinking of the post match yellow card and suspension he got in June?

The delay is bizarre. The decision was apparently made around 45 minutes ago but still hasn't been made public.

Talking about the match just before the break. Doesnt really matter, find it laughable that this citing shite always drift to SA by some on here. I hope Cooper can play for what its worth.
