2013 will be the "what might have been" year. But for a couple of poor kicks and the odd refereeing disgrace we'd be in the finals already and other teams would be genuinely afraid that we would put on a game like we did against the Crusaders.

Yesterdays game against the Force was a great promise for 2014. Seventeen of our best players out and we still stuck it to the Force big-time. Willy Skelton was MOM for mine but almost the whole starting team looked like they belonged at Super level. Pity Lopeti is going to the Rebels, I thought he played pretty well.

Long way to go for next year but I feel much better right now than for a long time - pretty much since Link finished up.

Every year in Tahs land is a might-have-been.

But at least this one looks like it is going upwards, not just levelling out. I was getting thoroughly sick of us being good in the forwards and shit in the backs one year, then reversing it the next.

This time everyone seems to be on the same song sheet

Lopeti looked much better at 6 than he has ever looked at 8, he could just run and tackle and let Hollaway deal with the back of the scrum

I think Hollaway played 8 for School and Junior Club footy. Perhaps he can be converted from 2nd row to back row.

He looks like that nice 5/6/8 option

Actually is also was good to see Atkins out there too, he got through a load of work.

I don't know what they feed them, but Uni sure do know how to breed athletic, high workrate forwards.

Such a shame we missed last minute kicks against the Rebels and Crusaders, we'd be comfortably in the top 6.

Add to those two misses the one point loss to the Cheetahs, the missed tries against the Canes and Force and the missed tackle against the Bulls; that's 13 points the Tahs have had their fingertips on this year and dropped them. They must develop a ruthless mindset about winning games next year, this "we've played well/done well" attitude's what's plagued the Tahs for years. I sincerely hope Dennis keeps developing as a captain and puts in when the pressure's on, but I can't see too many (or enough) mentally tough bastards in the squad other than him. Maybe Douglas and Horne qualify for this list. Ryan, Hooper, Foley, Crawford and Betham need to continue their mental development. TPN, Robinson, Kepu, Palu and AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) are probably too fixed in their ways to change, getting a bit of fire and hunger in their bellies is going to be a major challenge for the coaching staff next year.

I'm sounding like a broken record, but I still don't understand why the Tahs went for a shot at goal in the final minutes against the Force and didn't chance their arm for the fourth try bonus pt until it was too late.

the shot at goal took them to 15 points ahead, which makes the lead unreachable to the force>
they were always in the game till that point
better to confirm the win then go for the bonus point with a risk of losing it all>>
ps. i thought betham regathered the ball (i watched it in slower mo than the tmo) and it should have been a try
>would have been a try in league

I'm with you, jc. There's no doubt Betham's fingers and the ball separated on the way down but there was contact before the ball hit the line. I'm looking at Law 9.A.1 which states, "Try. When an attacking player is first to ground the ball in the opponents’ in-goal, a try is scored." The "catches" bit of the knock-on Law may've been Betham's downfall.

This weeks members mail is looking for votes for the Members POTY. Two horse race I'd say between Foley and Folau in my opinion. Probably leaning towards Izzy myself but Foley is a very close second.

Woodies played Roach for 60 mins against Penrith and Fitz for 20. Roach stayed on at #7 for the remainder of the game.
Against Norths, same plan, however this time roach went to #6
This week against wicks.... who knows. What we do know is that Woodies are a better side with both of them on the field at the same time.

Interesting that they had a question in there about who we would like as Head Coach for next year. I considered putting Michael Foley just to mess with them.

Don't even fucking joke about that shit. What if the unpaid intern fucks up the spreadsheet and it comes out Cheika 1, Foley 11,241?!?
