BSHS robbed against BGS by the referee going 10 minutes or so over time, extending to a 45 minute second half allowing for BGS to slot a penalty conversion in the final play
I think they play injury time in the First XV competition which probably explains why it went overtime. There were a lot of players from both schools who went down with injuries during the second half.

Yeah that could have been it, although the second half felt like it went a lot longer than the first, even including injury time.

Yeah, I've always wondered what the time with GPS games are. Lots of games have ended up in a very long 2nd half. Shall consult the GPS rules.

Edit: yep, the 1st XV games all have injury time, so often the halves will play out longer than 40 minutes on the watch.

2.1. Two periods each of thirty five (35) minutes, excluding injury time, shall be played, with a five (5) minute interval.

Very entertaining game at Ross Oval today. Possibly not played at the highest level, as it was scrappy at times, however the commitment from both sides could not be questioned. Nudgee forward pack was very good, scrum was solid and had BBC scrum under pressure numerous times. No8 for Nudgee Maclean Jones IMO was man of the match by a long way, had a storming game, with the rest of the pack all doing their job well. BBC forward pack, who had a definite size advantage, competed well with their No 8 probably their standout. Nudgee backline definitely lacked some spark other than Tuttle at 10 and Magnay at 13. Not quite sure why Hussey is playing in the 2nds, they seriously lack speed out wide. BBC backline was pedestrian other than the 15, who looked like he could split the game wide open at any time. Wilkins at 13, even though he scored two tries, was easily held by the NC backline with Magnay all over him when he received the ball. It is looking more than likely that the game against TSS in round 4 will have a huge bearing on the premership. My prediction is TSS will go the year unbeaten. One final point, 14A Nudgee team beat BBC 15-5 after winnng last year by at least 60 points in the 13's. Apparently 13 of the 15 players were new this year for 14A BBC team, they must be spending some serious money. And yes first loss for the 15A Nudgee side today against BBC, their recruiters must be doing a good job.

Yeah I remember the talk over the churchie and BBC game last year running over time. And yeah the second half of the state high vs BGS game ran to at least 45 minutes which felt like a really long half

BBC has supposedly got their whole 15A backline on scholarships - all in this year. They were definitely not too strong in the 15s last year and Nudgee dominated the competition. Will be looking out for BBC next week vs BSHS next round. BSHS are another school who have really switched on this year with new players. Last year BGS won 16,15,14A games. This year they won no A games.

After some poor results in the lower age groups last year I have heard and seen NC, BBC, IGS and TSS invest a bit in the talent and a lot in the coaching. The standard of some of these games in the trials has been superb. It can only lift the skills of the boys in this age group when the weaker teams are stepping up. It will be interesting to hear scores today in 13's and 14's for these teams that played against each other today. That 15A result for BBC v NC is just outstanding. That Nudgee team have been so far in front, now it is game on. Hopefully the long term outcome is great for rugby.

BSHS were lucky not to be penalised more around the breakdown, which ultimately let them back into the game. I think it was the BSHS #1 who made the shoulder charge on BGS #7.

Anyone have team lists from this game?

BBC did well to get within 11. Nudgee didn't click and still won - sign of a great side. BBC to provide a bit of nuisance value this year and will probably end up 6th or 7th - as they normally do.
NC to continue to steamroll. Hopefully TSS puts up a fight in the Round 4 early competition grand final.
in fact it will probably be the grand final for all open teams. Witness NC 4's walloping GT 3's. TSS similarly smashing a higher team over IGS 3's & 4's.

TSS will probably be the team to beat in round 4... If anything I think that NC will be underdogs - looks like we'll have to wait and see. TSS being at home will give them an advantage, especially coming off a bye in round 3. Both teams will have to look out for upsets though, especially Nudgee. Their ability to bury a team hasn't really stood out. Magnay with a red card could have him suspended for the TSS game - Levi got 2 weeks for a similar incident in 2011. I expect Churchie to put up a fight in round 3 vs Nudgee - it will certainly not be a walk in the park.
Any injury reports from either camps?

TLDR - a lot of things aren't in Nudgee's favor come round 4. My money's on TSS.

The last 3 NC vs TSS games have had the away team win. If Magnay is out for the Southport game it will be a real shame. He's been pretty outstanding.

I enjoyed watching the BGS vs BSHS game today untill the last quarter of the game.

State high were not only getting away with murder at the breakdown but were granted field position (penalties) from it. Utterly ridiculous refereeing ruined a very competetive game. Also the state high player who shouldercharged the knee of BGS #7 I think it was is to be ashamed of himself.

It would have been heinous if BSHS won that game.
More likely you enjoyed watching the game until BSHS were in front. I thought the refereeing was fair. It was a good close game, with no quarter given by either side. Strange you didn't like the penalties as it was a penalty to BGS in the last seconds of the game that gave them victory.

This certaintly has to be stopped for the future. You must feel sorry for kids that have played A's all the way through & then to be dropped.
Wiining at at all costs, is it for the "old boys" or to ensure the money keeps rolling in. Absolute farce & thank god I wont be involved in GPS rugby next year!!

This is exactly what Jason Gilmore did at TGS. It ripped their Rugby community apart and for what? In the two years he was their they finished 8th and 5th!
