The NRC is finally upon us, with Brisbane City hosting the Sydney Stars for game 1 at Ballymore this Thursday. Tickets available here: http://wl.eventopia.co/event/Brisbane-City-v-Sydney-Stars/256722?afflky=queenslandrugbyunion

If you're in Brisbane get to the game to support the long awaited third tier of Australian rugby and check out the next generation of Wallabies and Super Rugby players. If you can't make the game will air on Fox. You know you want to see more of this guy:

Still not sold? As added bonus for all Australian rugby fans everywhere the winners are guaranteed to be wearing gold!

prospective Brisbane team (dependent on injuries and hangovers):

15 Lachie Turner
14 Harry Parker
13 Rex Tapuai (Ben still injured it would seem)
12 Samu Kerevi
11 Chris Kuridrani
10 Jake McIntyre
9 Nick Frisby
8 Jake Schatz
7 Michael Gunn
6 Dave McDuling (assuming Browning out too)
5 James Horwill
4 Tim Buchanan
3 Sam Talakai
2 James Hanson (assuming TPN back for the Wallabies)
1 Pettowa Paraka

16 Andrew Ready
17 Phil Kite
18 David Feao
19 Marco Kotze
20 Brad Wilkin
21 Jack Mullins
22 Toby White
23 Brando Vaaulu

Now, that team should smash the Stars. Kerevi v Tom Carter will be a great clash.

Looking forward to seeing Tom Carter throw a bit of chat.

His hair will be offside in all likelihood

No chance of Gill? He's been immense in the club finals and it sounded like he was pretty keen to get back in the wallabies squad sooner rather then later in that article over the weekend.

My mother in law arrives on Thurs for a weeks stay at "Troy's Hotel" so all the more reason to get down there! May still be there for the next round..

I am so happy I will finally be able to watch third tier rugby with some degree of regularity..

Go Brisbane City!

So excited to see more of Kerevi. It doesn't need to be said at this point really but gosh, he is an absolute gun!

It'll be good to see Sam Johnson get a run for QLD Country too as I think he's shown he has some real promise in his limited cameos with the Reds.

The Stars will be way of their depth, it's Sydney Uni and they were about the 4th best club side this year in the Shute Shield.

Anyone know details on how far away Genia and Cooper are?

And what's the details on the injuries to Browning and Taps?

I would've thought that Rex and Kerevi would have reversed as 12 and 13, but not completely sure there.

For those who can't make it:
Fox Sports 2, 7:30pm, Thursday 21.

Don't miss it!

Browning was in a sling straight after the GF on Sunday and Taps was in a moon boot. Not sure what their timing is like.

According to the Wallabies twitter account, Wallaby squad members won't be considered for NRC selection this weekend.

That's a little disappointing.

Sam Talakai will know all the Sydney Uni moves, calls and structures.

The Stars will need to invent some new ones pretty damn quickly.

Very excited, City side looks a bit different than predicted due to injury (Buchanan, Browning, Gill, Taps, Turner) but still strong which can only be a good thing for QLD rugby. Interested to see what happens.

Taps is out for 12 weeks, Gill 1 week, Browning 4 weeks.

Buchanan a late withdrawl, no mention on time for him.

No mention of Genia or Cooper.

Shame about the Wallaby squad being held back for this week, would've been nice to see Horwill running around this game.

Look at the stars,
Look how they shine for you,
And everything you do,
Yeah, they were all yellow.
