That is interesting, especially with Alexander and Alalaatoa there and no decent back-ups LHs. Maybe tomorrow we'll find out if Alalaatoa is playing LH because he was named at 17.

Really? Interesting.

He's young enough to make a comeback eventually, fingers crossed.

Had a lot of recurring injuries so has played very little in the last few years and really wants to study and further himself academically. Maybe a case of losing motivation and the fire will return but only time will tell.

The coaching thing could be very good for him. Could he also be coining this with his studies at UC? Out of interest, does anyone know what he is studying?

I am also guessing there is a link with UC and his study / Brumbies consultant work. I have the same question about what he is studying - will let you know if I find out.

Paraka looked damn good, and Slipper can play 3. With Slipper already a TH of note and with Sio already playing 1, there'd be worse things to do Wallaby-wise.

Sure, I get the whole 'TH is more draining on the legs' discussion but Sio is dynamic too. Point being, change Slipper to TH is Paraka proves he is good enough, and he might be season's end.

Slipper is almost certainly going to be a LHP for the remainder of his carrier. He doesn't like the idea of playing THP the reason why the Reds will lock down a THP this coming off season before they sign another LHP.

Pretty obvious what Dan Palmer is studying .........

Do you think with the NRC and some of the talent that is being shown, that they might just decided JOC (James O'Connor) isn't worth it and pick up some young up and comers.
I dont think so, the game the other night indicated to me how much better those players who train at an elite level are than those making their first step up.

I dont want JOC (James O'Connor) at the Reds but admit he will be a great option the first day he arrives as opposed to being a project.

We don't need JOC (James O'Connor), Oz rugby does not need JOC (James O'Connor). JOC (James O'Connor) alone is not going to lift us into the finals. Waste of salary cap as far as I am concerned. Hunt seems disengaged at the Suns and I remember him being at little aloof at the end of his time at the Broncs. Will he have passion for the Reds, no point taking that chance either.

All this talk about JOC (James O'Connor) and Hunt are splintering the focus on us trying the keep the good players we have on the park and on getting some mutant fucking pigs full of rage.

Having had that rant, I heard Horan on mmm saying that Hunt and JOC (James O'Connor) are done deals as well as some big nasty forward. All will be revealed at the Galah's Ball.

Other way round, Holmes is a tight head, I think the only time this year that Slipper played tight head was when Holmes was injured.

Holmes was a LHP in his younger day but also played THP to increase his worth as they only carried one prop reserve in those days. Since Slipper has become a LHP almost exclusively Holmes has settled into the THP role for the Reds. He has had a couple of the best seasons of his life in the last couple of years but the Wallaby set up has never considered him as they have had a fascination with younger players.

So I'm watching a bit of ITM cup today and Michael Stolberg comes off the bench for his debut for Northland...replacing Tom Murday.

Two Brisbane lads in the one ITM team. 2nd rowers. We should keep an eye on them

Will the kit (jerseys etc) be remaining the same next year? Apologies if this has been covered previously.

I was a big fan of the subtle changes from the 2013 to 2014 jersey but I still reckon it could look nicer.

I'm not sure what the life cycle is these days but it usually seams to be never more than a couple of years before a refresh, even if the manufacturer remains unchanged. Unless there are any major new sponsors.

I have no knowledge of the subject but I wouldn't be surprised if the jerseys were given a fairly major design overhaul next year, although I think the current ones are great.

I may be wrong but didn't the change to these more 'red' jerseys as opposed to the traditional maroon colouring happen after a changing of the guard so to speak? Around 2010 when the Reds were becoming relevant again. If they keep with that mentality, after a few dud years and with quite a few new faces coming into the side, the QRU may be considering altering the jerseys to give the team a bit of a refresher.

The Northland team also featured Sione 'Nons' Kite who played flyhalf at GPS for a number of years recently.

Does anyone know how Quade & Will are tracking with their injuries? I thought they would have been back by now?
Saw Quade at Ballymore on Wed and he looked fit ready to go but haven't heard any news..

Was just about to ask the same thing. The latest info I can find is this from the end of July:

Both Cooper (shoulder) and Genia (ankle) are targeting mid-September returns from their respective long-term injuries, giving them roughly seven NRC matches to catch the eye of Wallabies coach Ewen McKenzie ahead of November's European Spring Tour.
