Wicks-Easts results on their website.
first grade 24-12 to wicks.
Easts had the better of the scrums and wicks the better of the open play.
A good trial for both sides

Wicks better on the day in all games, except the 4ths!
Their colts were particularly strong!

Two Blues had an entertaining day with Hornsby/Central Coast taking on a 3's/4's combo and the Melbourne Unicorns playing 6X20's against a 1's/2's combo. Still mucking around with squads and with about 9 first graders unavailable, the MTB looked good in 4 out of the 6 periods. A good old fashioned aftermatch saw the Melbourne boys well primed for their bus ride back to their Coogee digs and a big night out in Sydney town.

Meanwhile the Parra players jumped on a bus to a secret location in Southern Sydney where they underwent an all night commando training course, designed to break them mentally and physically. There were some tired, sore but very motivated boys on Sunday, with the ex commando trainer saying they were one of the toughest and tightest groups he'd taken through hell. If they can bring that mental toughness to the Shute Shield week in week out, an element identified by the coaching team as missing in previous years, MTB will be tough to beat this year.

Eastwood got over uni in all grades on sat.

Scores were not shown but all were relatively close
HI Scrum Doctor - I took a detour to look at TG Milner no 1 on my way to the Carpark after the Colts. There were so few people there I can imagine it was hard to get someone to keep score!:)
Just wait until the Corporation comes back with "Get" Carter in the season proper. Then we will see the scoreline posted.
See you then.

Round 1 next Saturday

Tipping in round 1 is always fraught with danger, and it is either a brave man or a fool who does without being fully appraised with the team lists or a full suite of Trials results.

I'll stick my keyboard out and have a lash, relying on the time honoured SWAG sports tipping methodology.

Eastern Suburbs vs Gordon - Beasts to take the chocolates in a dour battle by < 10

Eastwood vs Randwick - Woodies after strong preseason will be too strong, win by >20

Warringah vs Southern Districts - tough call, but I have the Hobbits to win by 5-12. Game of the round.

Penrith vs Sydney University - The Corporation by >25. Emus best hope may be that M4/Parramatta Rd roadworks or an M4 accident will delay the arrival of the Team Buildcorp until after kickoff. Commuters will understand.

Parramatta vs Manly - home advantage will help the M2B stay in touch until oranges but the MMM will storm home by 15-21.

West Harbour vs Northern Suburbs - Home advantage to the Pirates may not be enough and the Shoremen will be taking the bacon home by a very skinny margin.

Done that

Wow. Well done to the Pirates. Still think the Woodies will be too strong for the Wicks in Round 1, but it could be a little closer than initially predicted guessed.

The whispers are true - club rugby will be on FTA TV this season with 7 Two (Ch 137) to broadcast games. Discovered it out of genuine curiosity via a search through the Foxtel planner for 3pm this coming Saturday.

Great news for club land - well done to all involved behind the scenes to make this happen.

Eastern Suburbs vs Gordon - Easts by 15+
Eastwood vs Randwick - Woodies by 20+
Warringah vs Southern Districts - Rats by 10+
Penrith vs Sydney University - 30+
Parramatta vs Manly - MTBs by 3

Think its going to be a much tighter league this year.
Shocks of season - no Manly or Souths in finals...
